Hendrix, Morrison & Winter at "The Scene" Club., December 16, 2003
This review is from: New York Sessions (Audio CD)
This is a pretty interesting recording that was done one night in NYC at "The Scene". Hendrix used to frequent the club, and would bring his own audio cassette player to record the jam sessions that would occur w/ other visiting musicians. This night, we had Johnny Winter and Jim Morrison in town visiting, w/ what is rumoured to be Buddy Miles on drums. Morrison is rather drunk at the onset, and obviously finishes his bottle during the show, becoming increasing intoxicated. It starts out strong, w/ Morrison on harp, but he evidently unfamiliar w/ "Tomorrow Never Know's" lyrics, begins to invent his own, rather funny and rather vulgar lyric, which even makes Hendrix giggle at Morrison's drunkenless: "Right now we got Jim Morrison on the uh....Jim Morrison on the- hahahaha." Definitely not for easy-going Doors fans. Really not a good performance to gauge Morrison's brilliance as a singer, seeing as he is very drunk. Hendrix, Winter & Miles are ok in this huge jam, but definitely a something to checkout if you are a hardcore fan of any of these men.

This hendrix cd has samples of "Jimi Hendrix 19 GreatPerformances" in it and it's like radio one is to BBC sessions. The songs on this record are what I'm guessing drug effect Hendrix, but all the same, it's amazing.
