Jazz and accordeon can make for something sublime!,
By Erik Werkman (Maarssen, The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New York Tango (Audio CD)
Frenchman Richard Galliano plays jazz-accordeon in such a convincing way, that Piazzolla's composition "Vuelvo Al Sur", the album's first track, sounds completely right in his hands. The fact that this album is a real Beauty is also greatly due to his accompanists: George Mraz on bass, Al Foster on drums (showing how subtle and supportive he can be) and Birelli Lagrene on guitar. One of my alltime favorite songs is on this album, being the second track "Soleil" (Sun), which always causes shivers down my spine when I listen to it: just unbelievable, the emotional quality that Richard Galliano manages to put into this music. This music will lift your spirit to another level and directly touches the soul. Highly recommended!

A wonderfull technic on the accordion. It is not what we usually expect to hear from an accordion (polka waltz).
