About the Author

Will Shortz has been the crossword puzzle editor of The New York Times since 1993. He is also the puzzlemaster on NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday and is founder and director of the annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. He has edited countless books of crossword puzzles, Sudoku, KenKen, and all manner of brain-busters.

My mother introduced me to this series of crossword puzzle books this summer, and I became instantly addicted! I adore crossword puzzles, but am not quite smart or clever enough to successfully complete most newspaper crossword puzzles. Enter "Light and Easy Puzzles" edited by Will Shortz. Changed my life! ;)

I love how simple and yet thoroughly enjoyable - and ultimately rewarding - these puzzles are. They are not too difficult as to overtax my patience, neither are they too easy (like some of those really cheap books that reuse a lot of words) so that they lose their charm. These puzzles are both engaging and yet completely feasible.

I ended up buying six of these books (all with various "subthemes" such as "A cup of Coffee and and Crosswords" or "Crosswords for your Beach Bag" etc.) and love them all. (The title of the book has nothing to do with the themes of the puzzles.) I highly recommend them!!
