Product Description

The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago Cubs in four straight battles in the 1932 World Series. But it was in Game 3, at Chicago, where something legendary occurred. Yankee slugger Babe Ruth, who had homered in the first inning, stepped in against Charlie Root in the fifth. With a 0-2 count, Ruth stepped out of the batter's box and pointed. Some say he was pointing at Root, others say he was calling his shot. Whichever the case, on the very next pitch, Ruth sent Root's offering 436 feet for his second home run of the game and his final round-tripper ever in a World Series. The Yankees won the game, 7-5, and won the series the following night. Relive Ruth's mythical ''Called Shot'' with this Babe Ruth Historical Beginnings figurine, which stands 10.5 tall and features a brass nameplate on a cherry wood base. Included is a glossy insert that provides further details about Ruth's much-talked-about home run.
