This review is from: New York's Historic Armories: An Illustrated History (Hardcover)
I co-own the Walton Armory. We are doing a full renovation of the building which was in dire need of attention when I bought it a few years ago. This book was very helpfull to me to show the way not only exterriors of the builldings looked, but also how the interriours looked. It also tells us the reasons behind this armory building frenzy in the 19th century. Highly recommended.

As an architectural historian, Nancy Todd explains the reasoning and architecture beyond New York state's fantastic armory buildings. As a speaker she is even more interesting. Anyone interested in public works buildings and turn of the century architecture will love this book. Great pictures, interesting explanations and she knows her stuff. My personal favorite is the Amsterdam Armory.
