Presents a good overview of the NZ immigration process., September 7, 1998
By A Customer
Starchild's book covers NZ geography, topography, history, culture, people, finances, wildlife and natural resources, in addition to the immigration process, within 167 pages. The writing is sunny and optimistic and New Zealand is presented in an overall good light. Although, anyone seriously contemplating to immigrate would need to do further research, this book does give a very good introduction to NZ and provides lists of useful resources.

Useless propaganda, October 10, 2000
This review is from: The New Zealand Immigration Guide (Paperback)
This book contains no useful immigration information at all. It gives a long description of what New Zealand is like, that you should have known before if planning to immigrate. All information glorifies the country in a totally unbalanced way, not with a single word mentioning the economic recession, unemployment, falling standards of living, political chaos etc. What is claimed in the description, that the book would help you to get through all the obstacles of immigration, is nothing but a lie. One chapter in the end childishly describes that you should sell your house well in advance etc. but that's all! DON'T BUY THIS BOOK - IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT N.Z. BEFORE AND HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE IT WILL ONLY MAKE YOU DISAPPOINTED! Once we have immigrated I will write a better one!

It isn't utopia, but it is worth considering, November 4, 2000

This review is from: The New Zealand Immigration Guide (Paperback)
NZ is relatively decent. Before anyone posts any "oh, isn't NZ awful" stories I would ask them to tell me what country doesn't have similar, if not worse, stories. If you want to compare NZ to your imaginary ideal that is fine but please stop confusing your fantasy with reality. Good lord whatever problems NZ has, and it has its share, it doesn't have armed federal agents attacking church groups and burning them to death, it doesn't have Janet Reno, it doesn't have all the problems we have in South Africa.
