Truong Buu Lam, originally from Vietnam, is a retired professor
of History from the University of Hawai`i. Upon receiving his
doctorate in History from the Catholic University of Louvain
in Belgium, he taught at the Universities of Saigon and Hue,
Vietnam. He came to the U.S. in 1964 to receive further
training at various American universities before settling
down to teach Southeast Asian History at the State University
of New York at Stony Brook. In 1971, he came to Hawai`i to
join the History Department of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
His latest publication is a comprehensive history of Vietnam
entitled A Story of Vietnam.
