I am Nero skylanders. My son wants it for Christmas so if I get this new swap thing can I just get it or do I need the other started kit? What items are good to have to get started? We have a Wii! Thanks!

You will need the starter pack for the wii. It will come with 2 characters and the portal. After this you can purchase additional characters that you can use for additional game play. I would recommend that you get the starter pack and one additional character pack. In game play the characters can loose strength and will have to take a break so it is good to have additional characters to swap and make new characters to continue with game play. My son is getting the following and it's is his big item. Hope this helps.

Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack - Nintendo Wii

Skylanders SWAP Force Fiery Forge Battle Pack

NEW vs OLD? Just wondering if the new series characters, such as Chill and Gill Grunt, play different in the game vs their giant series counterparts. I have all the giant characters and am trying to decide if I need to buy them again for swapforce. Or, if I should only buy the brand new characters like Free Ranger. Will the giant characters play the same as the new versions in the game. I read the newer versions will look the same inside the game as they did in giants, and that the giants characters will have the ability to jump in the new game when placed on the new portal. Anyone test this out? Any differences that make them worth buying again?

I don't understand the "elements". How do you know which characters to buy so you have all elements for play? I want to get this for my grandson and would like to give him a good start. Thanks!
