I bought this humidifier February 2010. Since the spring, it was in constant use in the basement. It was quiet and smaller than my old one (which lasted about 6 years). I hooked up a hose for continuous use. It worked really well until last week (September 2010), when the compressor quit. It still registers the humidity, the fan blows and the motor gets hot. But no water is coming out. I tried to find out about warranty, but the "owner's manual" does not even list the company, much less give warranty information or how to contact them. A web search of "NewAir" only brought up places that sell them, not how to contact the company. So now I am stuck buying a second dehumidifier in less than a year.

My husband and I were in the market for a room dehumidifier and were delighted to find out that they don't all have big dials and clunky designs. This unit has a sleek (although basic) design that is both easy to use and super effective.

We brought this to our house in Hawaii and were amazed that it was able to pull close to 40 pints of moisture from the air in 24 hours. The water bucket was easily removable and an indicator tells you when it's time to empty the bucket (and turns off once it's full). This dehumidifier comes with automatic humidistat control, which cycled the unit on and off depending on whether the room had reached the desired humidity level. We're very pleased with this unit given the price.

Bought in April '10 - Nov '10 doesn't work. Can't locate the Manufacturer. Overpriced junk. Runs nice and quiet but that is all it does. I have a fedders that is loud that is in another home that has been working 24-7 for 4 years now that cost me $79 at Walmart. You would think the seller would do its research on a product before they sell. I'm hoping the seller will replace it or refund. Crossing my fingers.

I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly for my downstairs and wanted one quiet enough for use in my bedroom upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. Honestly, my refrigerator is louder. The last I purchased removed lots of water, but it can be heard throughout the house when it was running. So i only used it when needed. The NewAir is super quiet. I often walk by it to make sure its on.
The NewAir works great in all weather conditioners . Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Newair AD 400 to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, dehumidifier that works well without with out excess noise.

Bought the AD-400 about 9 months ago. It now flashes that it is full and won't run even though it is empty. I've tried maneuvering the tank to no avail. Can't find any information on the web to try to contact the manufacturer, Newair. Try to find this company, you won't be able to. I was very happy with this unit until it quit. Since this company is invisible to the consumer, I'd advise against buying their product since they can't be contacted in case of problems like I'm having.

We live in an early 70's mobile and as anyone who has ever lived in one (especially with all the liquid sunshine we get in WA) can tell you that they do tend to have moisture problems. I bought this model hoping it would help and has it ever! I usually set the timer for 8-10 hrs at a time and the resevoir is full or almost full every day. I no longer have mildew gathering behind furniture and in closets like I used to. Also the nifty wheels and pop up handle on it make it super easy to move from room to room. After 3 yrs,I would still recommend this product.

Excellent product. Very quiet running, great capacity, I highly recommend this to others. Digital readout easy to understand and program. Well worth it!

VERY SHORT REVIEW...Simply stated this has to be the quietest, most efficient dehumidifier on the market today. The only downside is, that sucks up the moisture so fast that unless you drain with a hose, or add an external pump, it may wake you to empty it late at night. It as also the most efficient unit made today in that it hardly uses any electricity, compared to its competition. And lastly, even on the high speed, you can barley hear it. This truly remarkable unit is worth every cent.

I purchased the AD-400 for my grandma, who lives in Florida. She was always complaining about how uncomfortable the humidity made her. Now, she is much more comfortable because of this dehumidifier. It's really easy to use... My grandma learned how to turn in on and off, set the timer and use all of it's additional functions in minutes. Plus I don't have to worry about mold and mildew popping up in Grandma's house. Thanks to this product, I can rest assured that my grandma is happy and more comfortable in the Florida humidity!
