Book Description

January 7, 2000 1891917021 978-1891917028
For nearly eighty years students have been reading Newbery Medal winning books. From historical fiction set during the Dustbowl or World War II to contemporary issues such as animal abuse and divorce, these award winning authors can bring reading alive for students. By adding the power of Internet and other technologies, educators can build information-rich, thematic technology connections. This book explores how to connect popular, award winning books with online resources and technology-based classroom projects. Readers will explore book lists, web addresses, and software titles that can lay the foundation for your technology connections. Each Newbery medal and honor book is highlighted on a two-page spread that provides background, thematic, and author information, along with activities and suggested websites. The book includes resources for over 150 Newbery medal and honor books. All the Newbery medal books have been included. All honor books from 1980 through 1999 and selected honor books from 1922 to 1979 are included.
