5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect temperature every time!
I received this as a gift at my baby shower. It is easy to use and really warms the bottles to the perfect temperature every time! The light goes on & off while heating (normal), but I have found that an 8 ounce bottle is perfectly warmed in 6 minutes. Other warmers can take up to 13 minutes!
I am absoultely against microwave heating bottles for my baby; why...

3.0 out of 5 stars Warmer okay, bottles suck.
Warmer is good. Just be sure that you keep a close eye on it after the first 2 mintues or you will have scalding hot milk. As long as you pay attention it is a great product. Works a lot faster than the bowl of hot water method I was using! Bottles are a waste of money. Leak even when properly assembled and give baby BAD gas. (you can hear baby swallowing air and hear the...

I am absoultely against microwave heating bottles for my baby; why would you risk uneven heating or possibly burns when this warmer is so simple and foolproof?!
My son is now almost 6 months old and we have used it for bottles as well as baby food...no complaints!
BONUS: it works with other makes of bottles as well...not just Avent bottles.
Defintely worth the money! A great gift and in my opinion, a must-have!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best., January 1, 2005

my child was born underweight, so I had to supplement my breast milk with formula - she was so sensitive that she automatically rejected things not at body temp. With this warmer I could warm formula or my milk in 3-4 minutes for 4 oz! what a dream! I had to feed her every hour for the first 3 months so I'd let her nurse; burp her; change her; feed her formula; change her etc. Without this product don't I would've been able to take a minute for myself - A MUST HAVE

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific warmer & bottle set, January 7, 2006

We didn't use this warmer as much as we thought since our daughter was born in the Spring, but we're sure glad we have it (room temperature water was often fine for mixing with formula). I will say that we've used it enough to make it worthwhile. It's a great buy when you get the set with the bottles & nipples. Now that our daughter is 10 months old, we often use it to warm her baby food.

I agree with some of the other reviews about the fact that it doesn't have an automatic timer. However, it's best for the parents to be the judge of when the bottle is is warmed the right amount.

And in response to one of the reviewers that said it didn't have an on/off switch. It does, it's on the back of the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal on a great set, October 16, 2005
This review is from: Newborn Feeding Essentials (Baby Product)
We started out using Avent with our daughter but had to change to Dr. Brown's because of her reflux (awesome by the way). But I loved all of the Avent accessories and since we had given away all of our Avent stuff we were looking for an inexpensive way to get all we needed for the new little guy. This set and the breastfeeding essentials set is all you'll ever need..well other than nipples in various sizes.

I have decided to nurse our son since I was not able to for health reasons with our daughter and I love that everything Avent is interchangeable. This set comes with the warmer which never failed to get bottles or food to a perfect temperature...4 oz to 9 oz or 2 oz jars of stage 1 to 4 oz jars of Graduates veggie dices...it was always perfect and easy to use. Plus you get a bottle brush and four 4 oz and eight 9 oz complete bottles. This is a great deal to get all that you need for your little one!

2.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT HAVE AUTO TURN OFF, April 29, 2006

I bought the bottle warmer as a separate piece. Overall I would not recommend it. It does not have an auto turn off and when you are a new mom and sleep deprived I can assure you will forget to unplug it or switch it off. If you forget to switch it off the water becomes so hot it will evaporate in a very short amount of time.

Also beware formula may get extremely hot. Always test it before feeding it to your baby.

I do use the Avent bottles and despite the fact I would prefer to use glass instead of plastic, it is almost impossible to find glass bottles with decent nipples. The great thing about the Avent nipples is they do resemble a breast nipple so the transition from breast to bottle was much easier for my daughter. If you are like me and you do not like the idea of warming up the formula in plastic you can get the Evenflo Classic glass bottles, warm your formula in those and then pass it to the Avent bottle when the formula is not very hot.

Playtex vent-aire and playtex dropin bottles cause MUCH less gas. Playtex bottles Do fit into bottle warmer though... :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value (esp. if you also have Avent Breastfeeding Essentials' Set)., May 13, 2006

Alpha "Jason's Mommy" (Los Angeles, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Newborn Feeding Essentials (Baby Product)
This box set comes with 1-Express Warmer (warms in 4 minutes or less!), 1-bottle brush, 4-4oz bottles, 8-9oz bottles and 12 newborn slow-flow nipples.

The warmer has a light that goes on and off during the warming process. It does not "ding" when done nor does it switch off by itself, so you do have to keep an eye on it and power off when the bottle is ready. We use our oven-timer - it takes about 30-seconds to warm 1-oz of fridge-chilled milk, even though the grid on the warmer says otherwise.

If you also purchase or receive the Avent Breastfeeding Set, you will have more than enough bottles and paraphenalia for the next 18-24 months of your baby's life. The breastfeeding essentials set comes with 1-ISIS pump, 1-bottle brush, 1-microwave sterilizer, 4-9oz bottles with slow-flow nipples, 10-4oz bottles with 8-caps and 2 newborn nipples, and 100 disposable nursing pads.

The Avent bottles have clear measurements in both metric and imperial standard. The UK fl.oz is smaller in volume compared to the US fl.oz. Having clear measurements help you to keep track of how much your baby is consuming per feeding etc.

The best plus for the Avent products is the nipple - it has the same "latch" feel/grip as the mother's breast. If you supplement with formula (like I do), your baby won't reject the bottle. Some other brand nipples (particularly the standard size) can irritate your baby's lips to form a bruise/callus.

My son Jason (now 2-1/2 months old) also likes to "hold" his own bottle, just as he did when nursing directly at my breast. The bottle design provides the same substantial feel - and the nipples are interchangeable.

If you do purchase as you go, you will end up spending about $200.00 on average (if you also get some of the stuff that is boxed in the Breastfeeding set).

The warmer itself is retailing at $39.00 on average everywhere - online or in stores. The bottles are normally sold in packs of 3 at $19.99. I haven't seen the brush sold by itself anywhere so I can't price it.

I originally registered for this Newborn Feeding set just for the Warmer and bottle brush, to go along with the Breastfeeding set.
