I bought this CD because I was looking for children's music that I would enjoy listening to as much as my son does. "Newborn" is perfect -- songs that are fun for me to hear (and sing along with) and soothing to a new baby's ears. I am a fan of singer-songwriters, so I was excited to find something by Hickman geared toward children. A plus... the words to "Hush", a soaring sweet updated rendition of "Hush, little baby, don't say a word..." come from a beautifully illustrated book by Sylvia Long ("Hush Little Baby"). You can buy this in board form with a rattle. Combine the book with Hickman's CD for the perfect gift for the new parent.

My 2 year son has been listening to this CD almost everynight for over 6 months! It really helps to calm him down and my husband & I never tire of listening to it either. Sara Hickman has a beautiful voice and this is the perfect way to introduce new fans to her music. I HIGHLY recommend it as a new baby gift!

Sara Hickman's album "Newborn" is a must for new parents. Her song "It's Alright, It's OK" hits just the right note to soothe a crying infant. The tunes are easy listening for parents and baby and you'll be singing along before you know it. Or better yet, you all might just get some sleep! I highly recommend this album as the perfect gift for new parents and add a gift for yourself while you're at it!

I received this album as a shower gift and I can't tell you how much it has meant to my whole family, even the grandparents. Sara has a way of verbalizing how amazing children and your love for them is. I plan on buying every product she ever produces because she is uplifting and makes both my daughter and I feel great.

A friend gave us a copy of Sara Hickman's Newborn and Toddler cd's when our daughter was born and they are forever on our stereo... in the livingroom, the nursery, and the car. Newborn is such a sweet cd that has calming songs as well as a few funny and playful songs (good for dads to sing along with!). The Toddler cd is great fun for when our little one is wide awake and in need of entertainment. You don't feel so ridiculous being silly when you are singing along with Sara! Both cd's are essential for new parents. We treasure them!

I actually bought this for a gift. We've had our copy since my now 6 year old was an infant. It was wonderful nursery music that you could sing along to, relax and listen, or fall asleep to. I'm also a huge Sara Hickman fan, so another dimension to her music to enjoy.

This CD is one of the best collections of lullabies around. I taught a preschool class this summer and the children listened to this CD at nap time. I almost fell asleep during nap time as well. :) It is very relaxing. Ms. Hickman's voice is beyond beautiful and the songs are not your typical lullaby songs. I just found out that I am pregnant and this will be one of my first purchases.

Sara Hickman's CD is the perfect way to soothe a colicky baby or even an overtired toddler. The songs are easy for parents to learn if you want to sing to your child. Our favorite is the a capella version of "It's Alright." Hickman's voice is clear and simply beautiful. (In the liner notes, Hickman writes, "The words came tumbling from my heart as I held [my colicky daughter] in my arms.") We also love the playful song "Goop's In It," about the most mundane of moments--a time when a child has an "eye booger"! As a parent, I appreciate how she uses different lyrics to the traditional "Hush" lullabye. She writes in the liner notes that instead of "buying goods to pacify a child, I enjoyed singing this version about sharing passing moments." When you look down at your child and sing along to "This Heart"--"I know my heart was made for you"--you'll want to give some extra snuggles and cuddles. It's an amazing CD, and well worth the purchase.

I recenlty purchased this CD for my daughter, she is 9 months and loves music. Sara Hickman has such a calming and beautiful voice. I only wish I would have purchased this CD when my daughter was a newborn, but she still likes it. I keep it in my car for when she gets fussy. This CD would make a wonderful Baby shower gift....music is something people tend to forget about when giving baby presents to expectant mothers. I don't know any baby that doesn't love music. The only song I didn't like was "Goop's In It." The most beautiful song is "It's Alright." That song I could play over and over...it is the most soothing song.

I am not even sure how I ended up buying this CD (probably an Amazon recommendation) but it was the surprise hit out of a bunch of music I bought for my new baby son (3 months old). I think he likes it, as he definitely seems to relax when I turn it on and tends to fall asleep. But I absolutely love it! I find myself playing it again and again--just hitting play and starting over. Sara Hickman's voice is beautiful and soothing, and the songs are incredibly catchy. I wholeheartedly recommending buying this CD. It will make you smile and you will find yourself humming the songs to yourself.
