As a former university teacher of English remediation and teacher of ESL, I have found the Newbury Dictionary of American English (College Esl) the best available. Not only is it excellent for the American English ESL learner, it is also excellent for the native English speaker who desires additional language support. The entries are concise, easy to read, complete, and offer use of words in sentences. No other dictionary of its kind can compare!
