Yes, it's a USB 2.0 transfer cable. Yes, it can charge the phone. But no, it doesn't charge the phone via the USB.
I bought this product to reduce the clutter I carry with me. If I could leave my cell phone charger at home and charge the cell phone from my laptop, that would be wonderful. It turns out that to charge your phone with this cable, you must use your regular charger. The charger plugs in to a jack on the plastic circuit box in the middle of the cable. It does work, but this is not I expected from the ad copy. Fortunately, this is cheap enough that I won't be permanently distressed as I toss it into the bottom drawer of the desk to be lost forever.
Definitely not the ultimate road warrior's tool.

Bought these (2) for SUPER cheap compared to what brick and morter stores were asking. The ONLY issue i have with them is the connection at the plug and wire is a little loose. The short "sleave" seems to ONLY be attached to the cable, and not the plug. This kinda makes it useless, and seem like the wire is going to pull out of the plug. I have had these for over 6 months, and use the hard and there is no sign of change in the cable. Would recommend them.
