4.0 out of 5 stars Zimmy, Fairly OddParents and Spongebob ?!?!?
I was defidently dissapointed with Nick's new CD. I expected a lot more SB considering it is one of the more popular shows but the only thing they had on there was the theme. Same with FOP and Invader Zim. For the Fairly Oddparents they could have put "Icky Vicky" and "I Wish Everyday could be Christmas". Invader Zim could have been "The Doom Song" and the best friends...

The fact so many Rugrats songs are included (when there are so many other Rugrats CDs) seems wrong, given that very few of these other shows have soundtracks. Knowing Nickelodeon, I would've expected a greater emphasis on Spongebob, given how they've already over-saturated the market with Spongebob merchandise.

What I really thought was lacking most from this CD were the various songs in "The Fairly OddParents". These, in my opinion, are some of the funniest and catchiest songs in any cartoon. "Icky Vicky", "My Shiny Teeth & Me", and "I Wish Everyday could be Christmas". Nickelodeon's biggest problem, in my opinion, is that they seem to fail to recognize when they have a good show and continue trying to over-sell things for other shows. Nick ignores shows like "Fairly OddParents" and "My Life as a Teenage Robot" in favor of producing more crap for Spongebob, Rugrats and the like.

Overall, this CD is a dissapointing purchase. I wouldn't recommend it unless you either like many of the themes of these songs or are a big Rugrats fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the REAL "OddParents" theme song?!, September 24, 2004
This review is from: Newest Nicktoons (Audio CD)
After all the new shows that joined the Nicktoon line-up between 1998 and 2001, it was high time Nickelodeon released another album featuring musical highlights of their cartoons. And this is the "Best of Nicktoons" sequel that we supposedly get. Or at least, that's what it seems.

While every show included on the preceding album had one version of their theme song and at least two musical highlights, it's half the opposite this time around. Here, "CatDog" (tracks 6-11), "The Wild Thornberrys" (13-19), "Angry Beavers" (23-25), "As Told By Ginger" (27-30), "Hey Arnold!" (36-41), and "Rugrats" (44-52) are the only Nicktoons to actually have musical highlights on the album, whereas "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Rocket Power", "Invader ZIM", "Pelswick", "ChalkZone", and "The Fairly OddParents!" get nothing more than their theme songs on the album. This is quite humiliating for those shows, especially since SpongeBob, Cosmo & Wanda, ZIM, and Otto can plainly be seen right there on the cover. It's especially humiliating for SpongeBob, who has had over three dozen songs featured on his show. And what's even worse, especially for fans of "The Fairly OddParents!", is that the theme song featured here is not the real version! (As in, it doesn't include any character dialogue like Vicky's "Bed, twerp!")

The album does not come with a lyrics booklet, which is either a plus or a minus, depending on if you were angered by the fact that the first album's booklet didn't specify which characters sang which song. On the plus side, "Homeboy Mix" makes for a great music video.

I would not advise purchasing this CD.

2.0 out of 5 stars I am buying this CD for it will please Pustulio..., March 19, 2002
This review is from: Newest Nicktoons (Audio CD)
Two words why I bought this CD: Invader ZIM. Unfortunately it turned out to be just the theme song but, eh, I'll take what I can get. I got the first Nicktoons CD, and it was okay, not great, but it was from when Nicktoons were actually good. It had tracks from Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers -- good stuff. What have we got here, As Told By Ginger, Wild Thornberrys and more of those irritating Rugrats? Ewww.

Truth is, there's a lot of duplication on this disc - I guess they put on the themes to Angry Beavers, CatDog and Rugrats again just for the sake of letting you know that there are other songs from that show that follow. They do feature the new version of the Hey Arnold theme at least.

It's really pretty disappointing in my opinion. Lack of ZIM aside, it's an odd and uneven representation of their shows. Even one of Nickelodeon's more prominent (and watchable) shows, SpongeBob SquarePants, also features nothing more than the theme song. You'd think they'd at least include the 'Ripped Pants' song. And there's really only so much you can take of Nick's shameless self-promotion - a whole 14 of the 52 tracks are commercials for the network - and they range from so-so to downright irritating. On the plus side, there is Norb and Dag's infectious disco sensation "Beaver Fever". But that's about it.

I suppose if you're a fan of the Rugrats, or the various other boring and ugly-looking shows from Klasky-Csupo, then you might like this CD. But make no mistake, I bought this because it had a great big doom-screaming Invader ZIM on the cover. And if voting with my cash will convince Nick in any way that ZIM is the best show they've produced in a LONG time, then that's what I'm gonna do...

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the title, this CD is not even close to being "newest" anymore, April 28, 2007
This review is from: Newest Nicktoons (Audio CD)
I'm not reviewing the CD in general, but coming to point a few things out. This CD was released 6 years ago. K? Many reviewers are complaining about no Jimmy Neutron or FOP and SB... but in 2001, Spongebob, while still popular then, already has many albums with that shows many songs on them seperate and FOP was still getting started, as for JN, it was merely a movie back then. Another thing, Rugrats has never actually gotten a soundtrack album for the show itself and this is the closest it will probably ever get to it. This is a great purchase if you want to relive some memories of a Nickelodeon that did not play Spongebob 24/7.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good variety of Nickelodeon Cartoon music, September 10, 2005

With rambunctious boys, age 4 1/2 and 3...they need high energy and age appropriate music to get the 'wiggles' out! This cd fits the bill. They love it so much that they ask for it by name. The only con is that some of the other favorite Nick cartoons like Jimmy Neutron is not on this CD. Other than that, it is an excellent value and loads of fun to dance to!
