Newline is the manufacturer of this item and it is the only seller in United State. Newline's talking bathroom scale can clearly announce the weight in lb or kg. Talking function can be turned off. User-friendly greetings, no programming needed. Simply tap on the talking scale slightly with your foot to "wake" it up. (This scale is very sensitive & easy to turn-on, one slight tap will be ok.)
The scale will say, "Please wait"; after 1 second, "Ok, please step on the scale." Step on the talking scale and it will announce your weight to a tenth of a pound or kg in a loud clear female voice, as well as display the results on the large LED readout. After ten seconds of non-use, the scale automatically shuts off. No need to search for buttons! No need to bend over to read the display! It is ideal for the blinds or vision-impaired. If no voice is desired, the voice mode can be switched off by a button on the back of the scale.
The beautiful Contemporary Glass design is sturdy and easy to clean. The talking scale is accurate within 1 percent of your weight (+ or -). It is designed to use on a hard flat surface. Carpeted or uneven surfaces will distort the accuracy of the scale.
1 year limited warranty. Capacity: 20 kg / 440 lb Graduation: 0.1 kg or 0.1 lb. Uses 2 "AAA" batteries (not included due to National Security transportation rules). Slide the battery compartment (at the back of left hand side) door to open.

I bought this scale for my daughter who is blind. She finds it very easy to use. The voice is nice, not an irritating one we sometimes find on talking equipment. You do have to bump it with your foot to turn it on but we think that is better than searching for a button to press. The larger than average maximum capacity is great for those who top out other scales. The glass top has a nice feel on bare feet, especially in the summer when the glass feels cool on warm feet. It also has a nice, clean look to it visually, not as cheap looking as plastic ones can be.

We bought this scale you an elderly person you needs to weight themselves daily but have a hard time reading scale dials and displays. This scale has a digital display but also provides verbal commands. The voice is load and clear. The instructions are a little unclear as to where the batteries are installed (there is only one battery compartment). The other minor drawback is that is takes a few seconds to active the scale before you can get on and another few seconds before you are given the weight reading. Could be a problem for people with poor balance.

Nice scale but needs a volume control

Talking scale
I am disappointed with this item. I can't get it to give me a correct weight. It tells me I'm 772 lbs. I weigh nowhere near that number. My normal weight is around 165lbs. Read more

IMHO this is junk!
This scale is loud and talks at the slightest touch.

Great for those with poor vision
Really handy for us low-carb folks. Volume is a bit loud, and it starts talking if you bump into it in the night when visiting the commode.
