Book Description

March 1, 1998
The Newlywed Predictionary is a packet of brief, entertaining, and sometimes irreverent questionnaires that provide an opportunity for bride, groom, family, and friends to speculate (confidentially) on what the future holds for the marrying couple-and then for that same couple, ten years down the line, to check those speculations against the path their life has actually taken. The Newlywed Predictionary is part time capsule, part hope chest, and part parlor game.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

No one can predict the future, but it's always fun to try--and never more so than with the The Newlyweds' Predictionary. Part time capsule and part parlor game, it works like this: The newlyweds get his-and-hers booklets of predictions, which are to be filled out in private. The booklets pose thought-provoking questions such as "How will fights be resolved?" There's also a stack of questionnaires for friends and family that ask questions such as "What are the key factors that will keep these two happy in their marriage?" The booklets and questionnaires are then sealed with a "Do not open until _____" date that is the couple's 10th wedding anniversary and placed in a keepsake box until a decade has passed--happily, we hope. --Brenda Pittsley

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful survey for an enegaged couple to share., January 22, 1999

This review is from: Newlyweds' Predictionary (Hardcover)
This book was so much fun. Inside the hard-bound package there are two soft cover books. One for you and one for your partner. Inside these books are lists of questions about what you envision your lives together to be like in the future. The questionnaire asks about everthing from kids to old age. Also included in the package are mini-surveys for you to give to the people in your lives that know and love you. The idea is that in 10, 20 and/or 30 years you both look at your own predictions and share your thoughts. Very well put together package and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, innovative & fun exercise for newly married couples, June 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Newlyweds' Predictionary (Hardcover)
I am a recently married 28 year-old woman. For my bridal shower, my matron of honor, gave me a "Predictionary" as her shower gift. I must admit, at first, I thought it was strange - why didn't I get a vase or towels or something off my bridal registry? However, this book turned out to be one of our best shower and wedding presents altogether! When we returned from our honeymoon in Europe we sat down one night and filled it. What a fun, innovative and creative book!! It was so thorugh and detailed asking personal questions to your expectations of your spouse, marriage and life/future together. I thought my husband would be put off by all the detail and questions asked. However, we both enjoyed the soul-searching, candor and honesty that this book required in order to answer questions. While you aren't suppose to discuss your answers, this book/exercise did encourage deep and meaningful conversation about the adventure of marraige that we were now encountering as newlyweds. It was nice to see that we had similar expectations and views of our life ahead. I reccommend this book to any newlywed. It is a fun exercise to do with your spouse and a good way to write down your goals and expectations of marriage. I am looking forward to opening our "Predictionary" on our 10 year anniversary and seeing how similar or differnt our married lives have turned out. I highly recommend this as a shower gift. It is unique, innovative and very memorable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shower game!, January 20, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Newlyweds' Predictionary (Hardcover)
My husband and I recieved the Predictionary 6 years ago and loved it. Now my sister is getting married and we had everyone at her shower fill out the questionnaires. It was a great
alternative to the usual corny shower games. Everyone loved it and my sister had a unique gift to take home with her!
