4.0 out of 5 stars Fig Newmans
Fig Newtons are tasty enough, but I like the taste of Fig Newmans a little better. If you've tried a fig product before, you'll know they're odd, but uniquely tasty. I'm seldom in the mood for something figgy, honestly, but Fig Newmans have all the flavor of the original with less of a processed aftertaste. The figs are just a little fuller and sweeter in these. Try 'em;...

1.0 out of 5 stars Tasty, Disappointing, Organic Junk Food
Contrary to the maker's claims, this product is not made with whole-grain flour. Instead, the first-listed ingredient is "organic unbleached wheat flour," an unhealthful, refined carbohydrate. The product is sweetened with common, refined cane sugar and corn syrup. All things considered, this product is nutritionally equivalent to common grocery-store fig newtons, except...

I'm seldom in the mood for something figgy, honestly, but Fig Newmans have all the flavor of the original with less of a processed aftertaste. The figs are just a little fuller and sweeter in these. Try 'em; you might like them better, and since they're organic they're better for you as well. Ignore the "low fat" designation--it's a selling point, not something you'll likely notice in the taste, I sure didn't.

The product is sweetened with common, refined cane sugar and corn syrup. All things considered, this product is nutritionally equivalent to common grocery-store fig newtons, except for the claim that it's "organic." Snacks like this could be made with healthful, nutritious ingredients; unfortunately, this one is not. I would not choose to buy it again. Instead of this junk snack, I would choose Barbara's Whole Wheat Fig Bars, which are made with real whole grains and sweetened with fruit juices.

5.0 out of 5 stars newman offering,dairy free,, August 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a clean tasting ,dairy free, wheat free, fig bar(cookie) .No saturated fat , 0 trans fat,60cal, 13g carbs per cookie, just a little on the sweet side.{Note later added:the drawback is the corn syrup which I overlooked ,reducing above rating to 4 stars} Still, it`s a great buy at 28 dollars for 12 packs.(But they didn`t get it quite right.)The palm oil is okay, as long as it is not palm kernel oil, or worse, fractionated palm kernel oil.If you see those last two ,keep movin.

5.0 out of 5 stars A+ Absolutely wonderful, and not gritty like other brands., December 29, 2007
This review is from: Newman's Own Organics Fig Newmans, Low Fat, 12-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I began purchasing these because of my son's allergies. Wow, I was totally taken aback to how good these were. I liked and used the most common brand, but didn't care for the gritty, sandy feel, and often thought that they were dry. These aren't gritty in the least! And, they're moist!!! My two young children love them, and my husband, who's an 'anti-allergy free' food kind of guy, loves them!!! Thank you Newman!!!!

You only have to try Fig Newmans once to realize that they are tremendously better than Fig Newton cookies.

Fig Newmans are tastier, healthier, and are produced by a socially responsible company. What's not to like?

3.0 out of 5 stars Not gluten free., February 20, 2010
Please note that these are not gluten-free, although they came up for me when I clicked on a gluten-free link. Newman's are good, but this is not for the gluten-intolerant.

4.0 out of 5 stars BEST PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET!, September 28, 2008

This review is from: Newman's Own Organics Fig Newmans, Low Fat, 12-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I am 75 years old... The "Newmans" family products are the best on the market that I have found. Completely organic & using the best ingredients. It is wonderful to find products which will bolster an individuals health while giving ALL of their profits after taxes to children all over the world through their Hole in One Camps. Five (5) stars...and three cheers for them!

This review is from: Newman's Own Organics Fig Newmans, Low Fat, 12-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
These are delicious and they do not contain any hydrogenated oils nor disgusting high fructose corn syrup. All natural and organic ingredients. I buy them whenever I can afford them.

5.0 out of 5 stars great tasting and healthy, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Newman's Own Organics Fig Newmans, Low Fat, 12-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
My family has been eating Fig Newmans for years. Figs are great for you, but how do you get kids to eat them? The answer is Fig Newmans. Since they're organic, you can feel good that your little ones aren't ingesting pesticides along with the cookies. Two Fig Newmans will fill you up and keep you going. They're a great snack.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are NOT gluten or soy free but very tasty., March 13, 2011
Don't get me wrong, these taste fantastic but they made me very, very sick after a friend offered them to me as gluten free (learned my lesson) and I didn't look at the package. I'm Giving them 5 stars for taste, though! They also contain soy lecithin for those who are not able to eat soy so be aware of that as well. They are wheat free, however and if that is what you are looking for, enjoy!
