Good deal, but a little deceptive,

This review is from: Newpoint Organic Cotton Comforter with Organic Cotton Fiber Fill (Kitchen)
I purchased the twin for my daughter's bed. It was significantly cheaper than any other comparable comforter. According to the description, the whole comforter is organic cotton, but that is incorrect. It is 100% organic cotton top filled with 100% natural cotton fiber. This may really affect someone's decision to purchase this item. It is a good deal, but not an amazing deal. It feels like a nice comforter, but it is made in china. The description is definitely inaccurate.

I bought this to be placed under a duvet. For that function, it's perfect for me. As a previous reviewer noted, the product is marketed as 100% organic. In fact, the fill is "all natural" cotton. The finish on the comforter appears well made and looks good- piping along the edges and the stitching pattern. After two washes, no problems with fraying and I'm not anticipating any in the near future. One negative is that the "natural" fill has dark flecks in it that show up clearly when held up in the sun. I cannot say whether or not this would be an issue when set down on a bed if it is not covered by a duvet.

Made in China Smells like fire retardant,

This is the worst comforter ever. It is not 100% organic cotton...jut the shell. It smells disgusting. It feels HORRIBLE. I bought three...mistake...I washed one and it smells even worse than before the wash. It also wrinkled worse than any other comforter I have owned. I am returning each one. I was also unhappy to learn that the product and packaging are made in China. I truly doubt that anything in this blanket is "organic." Disgusting, poor quality, and would NOT recommend.

I thought it might be too light (not warm enough) but it's perfect. Just right - and I like that it's a bit more weighty than polyester comforters, it feels like the blankets I grew up with in Europe or luxury hotel blankets. Very nice, will be ordering two more.

Not Organic!,

This is not an organic comforter. The company is obviously trying to be deceptive and I wish Amazon would regulate these kinds of things. I needed something natural, safe, and chemical free for my daughter to play on and this is certainly not it. Very disappointed and will be filing a formal complaint with this company.

Best option for the price,

When I started looking for a new comforter, I really wanted wool, but I didn't want to spend the money at the time, so cotton seemed like the next best option (I'm allergic to down). I couldn't find any that were cheaper and better quality than this one (I paid $70)--online or otherwise; it seemed as though none of the usual brick-and-mortar chains were selling anything made 100% from natural fibers, and on the rare occasion that I found something, it would be bleached, not organic, and cost in the $180-$250 range, the price of a wool one. The fact that this one was well under $100, organic, and unbleached was ideal, even if the fill is conventional as some reviewers have pointed out.The picture doesn't look right to me--maybe it's the monitor, but this comforter is actually natural, un-dyed/bleached cotton, so it has a bit of a yellowish tint to it, and it definitely doesn't have quite as smooth/polished of an appearance, especially after washing it. Of course, I use a duvet cover, so those things are no big deal to me. I washed it in hot water on the gentle cycle, and then machine-dried it most of the way on the delicate cycle at the lowest temp before laying it out to air-dry the rest of the way; it does seem to have shrunk a bit, but I think that's to be expected with cotton. It is pretty weighty, which personally feels more relaxing and luxurious, like sleeping in a comfy bed and breakfast, though it does make it a bigger chore to move around and reposition than polyester or other synthetics that I have owned in the past, but man it keeps me warm. My furnace stopped working one night, and the temp dropped to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but I didn't even get cold until I got out from under the blankets that morning (although, at some point in the night, I'd pulled the covers over my head). I haven't used it in warmer weather yet.

Great quality overall, but contrary to other reviews, I find this duvet much warmer than expected, in fact much warmer than any down-feather I owned before. You definitely do not need any extra sheet or blanket with that one.

This is the first comforter that I have had in 20 years that isn't down, and it is great. This is a great weight product both as far as feel and temperature. We are in Northern California, so the outside temp changes a lot and we have love this comforter.

This is what i'm looking for - cotton fill , because it's warm for winter, good for your health. As long as it's natural cotton i really don't care if it's organic or not. This is a very good deal also a well-made product as a previous reviewer noted.I always place a comforter under duvet so a softer cotton shell will be perfect.

i agree with other reviewers; this thing smells terrible. it is a fire-retardant treatment? bleach product? who knows? tried washing and drying repeatedly, doesn't seem to be getting much better. i'll try to return it and get something i can trust to actually be organic and not treated with chemicals.
