Got this for my dad who was at this concert and it really took him back. Good sound quality and classic performances.

The Newport Folk Festival 1963/ The evening concerts Vol.1: Historic? Yes, but this CD is just plain entertaining! With all the (now) big names on this disk it is Sam Hinton who steals the show, right from the get go, with his very funny Barnyard Song and Arkansas Traveler. The tone of all the songs has a certain unity to them even though the tracks run the full range of emotions. A great disk of a great time.
