5.0 out of 5 stars Portraits of Newporters, April 29, 2009
This review is from: Newportraits (Hardcover)
What a gem of a book, especially for those who have summered in Newport and know many of the people whose pictures are included here. This is a walk through American history with a glimpse at private family portraits grand and modest that otherwise would never see the light of day. It is a time capsule of an era that is fast disappearing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Survey of NE Portraiture, August 24, 2006
This review is from: Newportraits (Hardcover)
This book, drawn from portraits in the Newport Art Museum's collection and those of local collectors, spans the history of New England portraiture from Gilbert Stuart to Andy Warhol. It is well produced and has dozens of great paintings of, by or owned by Newporters.

This review is from: Newportraits (Hardcover)
I bought this book as a Mother's Day gift for my stepmother who recently bought a townhouse outside Newport. She loved it. The book contains a great blend of portraits and history of the town. I don't recommend it for people who don't like to read about art.
