Themed poetry that works,
By A Customer
This review is from: The News and Other Poems (Paperback)
Citino has closely followed Ezra Pound's injunction to make poetry "news that stays new." This collection takes a tender look at how we perceive the outside world through media, and the result is tender, lyrical works that hold the attention. My favorite piece was the prose poem about Italians and lying, which showed Citino at his best: using gentle irony to speak with his readers about how we learn about ourselves by examining the stories of others. This book will appeal to fans of Billy Collins and Frank O'Hara.
