I've owned this book since it first came out, and it's a must for any true fan of the film. It includes some pictures from the movie as well as the music and lyrics for "Carrying The Banner," "Santa Fe," "My Lovey Dovey Baby," "The World Will Know," "Seize The Day," "King of New York," "High Times, Hard Times," and "Once And For All." It's helped me with more than one performance, and I even used it to compose Newsies ringtones for my cell phone.

On the down side, there ARE a few typos - from small things like spelling Spot's last name "Conlan" to more important transgressions like the complete lack of one chorus of "Carrying The Banner." Still, I've always found it well worth the money.

Many piano-vocal reductions for musicals are completely different from the original score. This one stays surprisingly true, though the left hand is missing a lot of interesting rhythms, and not many vocal harmonies are present. The keys of all songs are the same as the movie, and all intros, choruses, and verses are intact. Some of the interludes and dances are shortened or omitted, however. If you're looking for the karaoke CD, try iTunes.
