Newsmax...who are they really? Look deeper...,
By Clarity (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
I picked up a Newsmax magazine at our post office recycle box. Mildly interesting, so I accepted free trial subscriptions to their Franklin Prosperity Report, Financial Intelligence and Gold Stock Advisor. They sent a free book called "Aftershock" for trying out their publications. The authors' style offers the reader a fascinating study of intellectual arrogance, repetitive to the point of being hypnotic (they hope)." They seem to believe that the power elite's global government/bank and herd-of-people care system is a done deal and there's nothing anyone can do about it--strange, is it not? Newsmax is promoting the false "prophecy" of a house of cards that will soon collapse, by God's grace. Is this a news source to trust? Not. Look deeper, they probably worship the Georgia Guidestones at the full moon, believing there are humans so wise that a few should take away our freedoms for our protection...dream on! ;-)
Not impressed, July 30 I emailed their customer service to cancel all publications. The automated email response gave me a case number and said if I did not provide specific information, the response could be delayed. I replied with exactly what they requested. I have delivery & *read receipts* for every email I sent them after that--but no response. I wrote "cancel" and returned 2 invoices I received, but never got an invoice for the third. Oct. 8, I saw a $99 Newsmax charge poised to clear my account. They are so aware of their customer service shortcoming that their answering machine says "Do not contact your credit card company, we offer a full refund"...after they sit on your money for a while...add that up over probably thousands of transactions. I canceled all emails at least 3 times online, yet on October 11 (over 2 months later), I am still receiving unwanted email as my "subscriptions"--"it's a technical glitch." Don't add to their customer service overload--stay far, far away.

Gold Stock Adviser,
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
Newsmax Media Inc is a predatory bait and switch internet operation. Do not buy their products or give them any credit card info -- or you will regret it like I did.
Newsmax Media Inc. attempted to rip me off for The Gold Stock Advisor. They signed me up (unauthorized) for the newsletter and then charged my checking account for $99; that was before I received a bill. They tied up my $99 at the end of the month so I couldn't get gas, or anything else. My bank could not get hold of them, and had to reverse the transaction. Then they had to cancel and reissue a new card. Newsmax Media Inc is a predatory bait and switch internet operation. Do not buy their products or give them any credit card info -- or you will regret it like I did.

Spammers & Scammers,
By
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
They are in for the money as everybody else, but... they use every little low dirty trick to get every penny out of you. I made the mistake of accepting an offer to get a "free" book, and it has been a nightmare. Expect dozens of spam emails every day urging you to buy gold, meet senior singles online, buy diabetes "natural products", and a very, very long et cetera. It is impossible to be removed from their marketing lists, as they do not honor requests to do so, even if you stop making business with them. The "customer service" channel is only responsive if you inquire for products. The "news" they report are written by people who do not "think" (they "know"). Summarazing: stay away from these people.

This Is A Rip Off Scam,
By
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
Like many American's I'm trying to figure out what is going on in the economy. I order the free book from these "Rip Off Artists" AFTERSHOCK, which isn't bad but I guess I forgot to read the fine print. I got a billing statement for $49.00 and sent it back saying, "Cancel". Next thing I get is my bank statement being charged for $49.00. I have called the 800 number and another number associated with these people and only an answering machine that says, leave your name and number. Nothing...Nada...No response after 5 calls...guess they're underground? Do not fall for this money soaking scam and flimsy report.

Newsmax Scam - Unauthorized Charges on Credit Card,
By
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
Do not give Newsmax your credit card -- you'll regret it! I made the mistake of ordering a $4.95 book from the Newsmax website -- then I began to see "NMX -- Gold Stock Advisor" and "NMX -- Financial Advisor" charges on my credit card for $99 each! Google "NMX Gold Stock Advisor" and see what comes up.

Deceptive Marketing Practices,
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
If you purchase through Amazon, I guess you know what you are getting, however, I ended up with this magazine after ordering the book, Aftershock, on-line. I returned multiple cancellations by mail and email for their other publications but never received notice about the magazine. I didn't receive the magazine but once so I though that was the "free trial" and I would have to take action to renew. No, they have your credit card number and feel free to bill.Worse yet is the customer service. If you call when the surprise charge hits your credit card, be prepared to be left on hold for an extended period. Then the "customer service" rep, in my case, Stephanie, will argue that you did receive these notices and did ask for the magazine. The number indicates that Stephanie is in Florida so I don't know how she is so sure what was delivered to my home which is far away but she is. Then Stephanie, like a good sales person, says I don't deserve a refund but she will talk to her manager. Prepare to be put on hold for a while again. Stephanie comes back and tells me even though I don't deserve it, her manager is generously offering to do a one-time mercy refund. Hearing this, I ask Stephanie if I can get my credit card number removed from their database so this never happens again? Stephanie tells me that if they remove my credit card number from their database, they can't process the refund. I ask could the credit card number be removed after they process the refund and she tells me that she will put a "hold" on my card after the refund. For the parents out there, it is like receiving customer service from your sullen, smartass, teenager. I will have to wait 3 - 5 days, according to Stephanie, to see if I was at least successful. I do consider myself conservative so I should be an excellent market for NewsMax, however, I also believe character matters. Deceptive marketing practices like this should never be rewarded and even if I loved the magazine, I would not subscribe on principle. I did not read the magazine but it appears to be something that those who enjoy Glenn Beck would also love. I prefer that information is shared with me and I am allowed to draw my own conclusions rather than be told what to think or my emotions manipulated so I doubt I would have liked NewsMax. I know that I have not enjoyed watching Glenn Beck and his dramatization of news. I also think I would not like NewsMax because I can't imagine that a good magazine would need to resort to these underhanded practices to gain subscriptions. If it is to your taste, feel free to indulge. I see no reason to attack the views expressed in the magazine. I just want to share that the buyer should be aware of their less than scrupulous business practices and poor customer service.

Thieves,
By
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
Like others I ordered their free book. I was immediately billed for three reports which I never ordered for $99 dollars each. My credit card company with me on the line called them up and Newsmax at least temporarily canceled the billing. If I receive anymore debits to my account I will call the FL BBB, the FL Secretary of State and other FL legal agencies and send the reviews of others here to local FL newspapers. Newsmax is a predatory scam and should be punished by law!

Read the fine print!!,
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
This organization just automatically subscribed me to their magazine after buying the After Shock book from them (which I still haven't read). They charged my account $99 dollars for a year subscription to this publication. It appears that the main goal of this organization to sell magazine subscriptions, not inform investors, as they assert during their advertising. Be aware that special offers with this organization may result in inconvenience and significant cost.

Do NOT order their book or newsletters,
By happyuser "Jacky" (Loma Linda, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Newsmax (Magazine)
I forgot to do my homework to check this company out before I foolishly ordered their book. If there were negative stars, I would rate the company negative 10.I ordered the book Aftershock 34 days ago, and still have not received it, but my credit card was billed for S&H charges on the very same day. Could not make contact with them through the customer service number they provide in the order confirmation notice. No response by email either. Fortunately, I have not received any billing for any of their "free trial" financial newsletters, but to make sure I would not, I called my credit Card Company to put a block on any charges from them. The credit card company agreed, but also said they might try to bill under another name, omitting the word "offer" from their billing name. If they did, at that time the credit card company would assist in reversing the charges. My assessment is that any company doing this type of thing is rather shady, and one to avoid. Also, the credit card company had a different phone number than was given on the confirmation letter - but when they called, noone answered that number either. And this from a company that is supposed to be giving reliable financial advice???? hmmmm Makes you wonder ....... |
