5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas present that doesn't stay in the closet, January 10, 2004

My 4-year-old has enjoyed these so much. He has the Roving Rollers and the Building Buddies sets. He can look at the pictures in the "building book" and make many of them all by himself. He has created his own "mosquito" and "cartwheel man" with help from his big sister, who is almost seven, and loves these toys, too. This is the kind of toy that will not end up in the bottom of the closet!!!

Legos, Duplos, Ello.. they don't hold a candle to the Kid Knex in the series. Unbelieveable how much our 6 year old daughter plays with these and our 3 YO son too. These have a good feel for kids too. Bright. Easy to use. We have all in set now. BRING ON SOME MORE!

Comes with great "directions" - a booklet simply depicting many ways to build creatures (by just showing pictures of completed creatures). Our son could easily replicates these creatures and is really into it! Considering the many toys he has, this is a unique one which he plays with again and again! :)

Kid K'Nex makes weird abstract ... things. This was my sons first Kid Knex piece, and now we have the whole series. Thing tinkertoy stick figures with eyes. Then be amazed how a toddler assembles them in ways you didnt think possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid K'nex, for your little engineer, June 6, 2005

Our two and a half year-old received Bug Eyed Buddies as his first Kid K'nex toy for the holidays last year. The first thing he did was create a "lollypop" out of a long rod, circular piece, and an eye. He was so proud of himself and quickly made another one for my husband. I was excited he could figure out how to build with them so quickly. Over the next six months, he's been building more elaborate structures and telling stories about them. We've added to his Kid K'nex collection with Footed Friends, Garbage Truck Gus, and the Lion and the Mouse Story Pal. He loves them all. Bug Eyed Buddies was a great beginner set because it has enough pieces to be creative but doesn't cost too much.

I purchased the regular K'nex ferris wheel for my 6 yr. old grandson, and he enjoyed putting it together, but with almost 500 pieces (some very small)he was frustrated that he couldn't take it apart & put it back together very quickly. And there were no other ideas/instructions to make with this set. We had seen the big Zoo Friends set at Costco, and I thought it was too young for him at the time, although he wanted it. So I reconsidered & bought the Zoo Friends set, and he loves it. Now I'm purchasing other Kid K'nex sets for him. Kid K'Nex Zoo Friends Express Building Set - 171 Pieces
