This thermometer seems to give very accurate results and my repeated measurings are always very close to each other. My biggest complaint seems to be what others really like. I can't stand the constant beeping. It keeps beeping the entire time it is checking your temperature. I have taken my temperature enough times to know where to put the thermometer in my mouth. I don't need constant beeping to tell me I have it right. I am supposed to take my temperature as soon as I wake up in the morning. This is impossible however unless I am the last one up. If I happen to wake up before my husband, I cannot take my temperature because the constant beeping will wake him up. If I get up and go into another room to take it, my temperature is always 'up' a bit because I exerted myself a little before taking it. I cannot believe there is no way to shut off the beeping. On a regular thermometer that you use to check for a fever, this would be a good feature. On a thermometer that only adults are using and has to be used first thing in the morning everyday, this is an amazingly annoying feature. I have covered the little 'speaker' with tape to muffle the sound a little, but it is still too loud. I will definitely be buying a different, quieter thermometer.

I work in a hospital and tested the accuracy of this thermometer against the one's we use. It was accurate within 0.1 degrees. The Nexcare was tested with oral, basal, and rectal methods. It is a bit slower than ours, but for home use this is a decent thermometer.

My only concern is that you should have a separate thermometer for oral and rectal use. I would never, even after a thorough cleaning, switch between oral and rectal checks.

I like this thermometer. It is consistent and appears to be accurate. The only thing I don't really like is the constant beeping to tell you if you are putting the thermometer in the correct place. With it taking over a minute for the thermometer to take the temperature; that is a lot of beeping. It is annoying, especially if you are lying in bed next to your partner and trying not to wake him up. Also all that beeping makes the battery die faster. I have found two things that have helped (for anyone who is having the same annoyance). First I put my finger and thumb over the little speaker and the display. This significantly dampens the noise (although you can still hear it). The other thing I do is leave the thermometer in my mouth for about a minute before turning it on. This allows the thermometer to reach the same temp as me before I turn it on. That way it only beeps 4-5 times before it has the temp. That is much better than beeping for the full minute and saves the battery life. So ladies if you have this thermometer I recommend waiting to turn it on so that you don't disturb your partner as much as possible. I hope my tips help. Good luck to everyone! :D

First off, this is just a regular thermometer. Secondly, it's two degrees off!! I checked it multiple times against several other thermometers just to be sure.

The readings were all over the place, making it hard to track my cycle. I purchased a generic target brand basal thermometer about a week after receiving this and compared reading from the two; this thermometer read that my temp was about 2.0 lower. I've been able to track my cycle with significantly more accuracy with the generic Target brand.

This device, though advertised as a basal body thermometer, only measures to the tenth of a degree, instead of to one hundredth of a degree, as the fertility awareness literature recommends. No good! It should do what it advertises to do!

I was so disappointed at this one. I got two, one of them with little battery left, another one with battery doesn't work either. It shows my temperature is 91, and I tested it for multiple times, it all showed around 91.

The thermometer only measures to .1 degrees, rather than the .01 degrees recommended for accurate basal temperature charting. It saves only the last measurement, and only displays that measurement for a few seconds immediately upon the next power-on. It has a backlight, but the backlight doesn't turn on when the measurement is done, so you need to have a phone, flashlight, or other light on to read the temperature in the early morning darkness. It beeps all the time, in response to almost everything - beep to turn on, long beep to reset, continuous beeps while taking the temperature, beeps to say the temp has been read, long beep as you power off. Not at all ideal if you have someone trying to sleep next to you.

In short, I would not recommend this thermometer to anyone. It's more expensive and less functional than many of the choices on the market. I've already replaced it with a $20 thermometer that has a backlight, measures to .01 degrees, saves 60 days of temps and times, and is much, much quieter. I regret purchasing the Nexcare model.
