5.0 out of 5 stars Mirabelle Island Rocks!, April 16, 2010
This review is from: Next Comes Love (Harlequin Super Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Next Comes Love" is a great read. Helen's characters are well-rounded, fun, and sympathetic - and there are so many the reader gets to see from previous books. Erica is strong, Garrett is hot, and the locale is dreamy. I can't wait to read more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Now Serving up Chicago's Finest, February 22, 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Next Comes Love (Harlequin Super Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Erica Corelli is full of sass and a no-nonsense chick from Chicago. Her life takes an unexpected turn the day she receives a desperate phone call from her half-sister Marie asking her to protect her son, Erica's nephew Jason, no matter what, even when it means keeping Jason away from his abusive father. Erica upends her life without a second thought and ends up on the run with her nephew in tow landing on the island of Mirabelle, a place she visited as a young girl and has fond memories of.

Garrett G.T. Taylor was a Chicago cop who left the big bad city before it had a chance to grind him up and spit him out and lands a job on the small island of Mirabelle as the part-time police chief, who is also the all around Mr.-fix-it in his spare time.

From the moment Garrett spies Erica and her young "son" exit the boat ferry, he instinctively knows she's trouble with a capital T!

I really didn't know what to expect from this Super Romance, but I admit I was pleasantly surprised. I was looking for something easy, fast and mindless to read and just happened to pick this one up by accident. The cover intrigued and the back cover blurb was enticing enough to make me purchase this book.

It had a good story that was well written and kept me reading until the end, little if no romance, but some sexual tension (I expect this is the norm for this type of formula romance).

I would definitely read another Super Romance if I happen to find another one that catches my fancy.

5.0 out of 5 stars super romantic suspense, October 10, 2009
This review is from: Next Comes Love (Harlequin Super Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
After her half-sister vanished without a trace, Erica Corelli gets her six year old nephew Jason. Fearing Jason's dad, Billy, a violent Chicago cop, she flees with the child. Not knowing exactly where to hide, she returns to her personal Eden, Mirabelle Island, Wisconsin where she spent the best few days of her life when she was a ten years old child and has gotten work at Duffy's Pub as Erica Jackson.

Erica and island police chief Garrett Tyler, a former Chicago cop, meet and are enemies at first bite, but soon also are attracted to one another; a no-no in both their minds as each expects the other is Trouble. Following a news broadcast that paints Erica as an abductor, Garret knows who she and Jason are. He reports nothing as he sees Jason feels safe with his aunt and wants to insure both meet no harm though Billy is coming.

NEXT COMES LOVE is a super romantic suspense as the audience knows why Erica ran off with Jason while fearing her sibling is dead. The story line is fast-paced from the moment Erica tells Garrett to mind his business and never takes a breather as love competes with the anticipated tension of expectations that he is coming. Helen Brenna returns her fans to "An island worth remembering" (see FIRST COME TWINS) with a terrific character driven taut thriller.
