We host an party every January and someone always gets stuck washing dishes because I refuse to use plastic. I went looking for forks, and I didn't want something that was flimsy and looked cheap. These fit the bill perfectly. They are sturdy and attractive and priced well.

We received this item very quickly. They are fairly heavy and the design is pretty on them.

I was looking for good quality, heavyweight forks to replace some wonderful flatware that got lost. I ordered these because they were advertised as "heavyweight", and the other reviews seemed to confirm this. However, when they arrived, I was so disappointed! They are lightweight and cheap looking. The metal is thinner than I expected, and the shell pattern isn't deeply embossed, the way you would expect from really good quality forks that have substance. I guess the word "heavyweight" is a relative term and as such is subjective, but these do not compare favorably to the set I am trying to replace. I weighed one of these forks and I also weighed one of my old forks - the new fork was 1.5 oz compared to my old dinner fork which weighed 2.5 oz. A significant difference. The old ones are also longer (the new forks compare in length to my old salad forks), and thicker. These dinner forks thinner and have lightweight tines that are easily bent. With the quality of everything being dumbed down, it is not shocking that I cannot find flatware that compares well to my old stuff, but it is disappointing.
They are OK, though. I really can't complain too much, since they were only $15.00; I guess you get what you pay for. And since I am in desperate need of forks, I will not send them back. I even like them enough to order the knives, spoons, salad forks, etc., because my family is large and they don't take care of our flatware the way they should. It is probably wise to buy cheap stuff for everyday use. I just won't expect so much next time - and I certainly think the ad should not say "heavyweight". These forks are not really "bad", but they do not live up to the ad for being heavyweight, gourmet forks. They get three stars from me, because I am willing to keep them. When we first got them, everyone in the family noticed how cheap they were, and kept asking "What's wrong with the forks?". But after using them for awhile, we got over the disappointment, and started appreciating their better qualities; namely that there are so many of them and they were inexpensive. We are all extremely happy that we don't have to hunt a fork every time we want to eat something. And I have seen worse. These days, it is hard to find flatware that weighs more than tin foil, and I suppose these could legitimately be called heavy when compared to what is easily available. But I got my original set 35 years ago, when very heavy, well made utensils were standard. I would have given only one star to an item I had to send back, but have decided to keep these forks and add to the collection by ordering the other pieces of the set - knives, spoons, etc. However, I will keep looking for something else that is really, REALLY nice! If anyone knows of some sturdy, heavy, thick flatware, with a deep relief design would you please send me the link? I would still like to have something nicer than this.
