Invaluable and Practical Advice for Job Seekers, August 5, 2009
This review is from: Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight and Get the Job Tomorrow (Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight & Get the Job Tomorrow) (Paperback)
I happened upon this book at the public library a couple days before a big interview this summer. Although I'd been researching articles on the web about interviewing skills during my job search process, I was somewhat caught off guard by the call to come in to interview with a couple days' notice. This book was a big help. It not only helped me figure out which questions to ask as well as which questions to anticipate, it answered questions concerning recent changes in etiquette related to interviews. For example, the day before my big interview I attended a local business professionals networking event where a panel of MBA advisors and consultants talked about the impact of multiple technologies on the job search process. I asked them, "What's the appropriate way to send a thank you note after an interview? By email, a handwritten note, etc?" Their answer was the same as was in this book: email your thank you note and also mail a hardcopy within 24 hours of the interview. I am thankful to both the panel and this book for helping me make a good impression before, during, and after the interview. And I'm happy to say, I got the job.

Little interview experience? No experience? Very experienced? Get this book!!!, March 18, 2011
This review is from: Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight and Get the Job Tomorrow (Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight & Get the Job Tomorrow) (Paperback)
I found this book randomly at a book store and opened a few pages and began to read. This is some of the BEST interview advice available in such a small book! It's a very easy read and you learn things about yourself you never knew that you didn't know (if that makes sense)!! I would HANDS DOWN recommend this to anyone on the hunt for a job. I'm glad I found it well before my interview (so I had ample time to prepare) but as it says in the title, it is like a short rundown to prepare you for an interview the NEXT DAY! SO glad I found this book! It's hard to put down! Be sure to answer the "yes/no" questions in the first couple pages of the book and write what it asks you down on paper as you go. You'd be surprised at what you think you know, versus what you really know. SO intriguing! RN in Ohio

You want the job? - Get this book!, January 22, 2009
This review is from: Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight and Get the Job Tomorrow (Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight & Get the Job Tomorrow) (Paperback)
I was lucky enough to pick this book up before I interviewed for my current job and I am so glad that I did. The book is easy to read and presents great ideas. There are work-book type pages that force you to really think about all your strengths and helps you sum them up in creative ways. After reading this book I really felt confident about the whole interview process as well. Even if you are not preparing for a "next-day job interview" this book is a must have for anybody considering a career change. Once you use the book to write out all your strengths, job experiences, etc. the next time you have an interview you need only skim the book for 20-30 minutes and you are completely prepared. If you want to have an edge on the competition, wow your interviewers, and get the job, buy this little book now. You won't regret it, I promise.

Interview Prep Must!, December 21, 2011
This review is from: Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight and Get the Job Tomorrow (Next-Day Job Interview: Prepare Tonight & Get the Job Tomorrow) (Paperback)
I used this book to help me prepare for a job interview for which I had only two days notice. The begining of the book helps you identify your key skill sets, both in your current field, as well as helps you to identify "transferable skills" that you can use to market yourself for positions that are not directly related to your current experience. I found the sample questions and answers helpful - particularly the sections that help you decipher the interview question so you can better understand "what they are really asking" and therefore, how to better craft your answer. Finally, the section on potential salary questions and salary negotiation was key to helping me better navigate salary expectation questions. The bottom line: This book helped me get through four job interviews (same position) after which I was offered the job (I declined it). Six months later, I used the book again to help me prepare for another two job interviews (same position), after which I was offered the job (and accepted). I subsquently loaned the book to a friend for her interview prep and she too was offered the job (and accepted). The book is certainly no guarentee to receiving an offer, but I would highly recommend it to anyone whose looking for concise, accurate guidance on how to prepare for an interview (or multiple interviews).
