Another Classic!!,
By
This review is from: The Next Episode (Audio CD)
I got this CD in the mail yesterday from amazon.com and it was everything i have come to expect from Next. Next stay true to their freaky style with both club bangers and classic slow jams.1 - Intro: keep their tradition of great intros which was started with Rated Next and followed with the Welcome II Nextasy intro 2 - Your Love Is: this is a standout mid tempo track with Jaheim with some yypically catchy Next lyrics 3 - Imagine That: the first single. Great slower song where Next demonstrate their skills 4 - Do Your Thing: Another great club song 5 - Im Tryin' To What: This song in my opinion is one of the best uptempo cuts ever made. I think it is even better than Too Close 6 - Just Like That: Another standout club track 7 - Feels Good: A song for chillin, talks about having good friends, family and enjoying life 8 - Lights Out: Classic Next slow jam. Reminds me of Splash from Welcome II Nextasy 9 - Hold Me Down: Another solid song talking about the value of a good woman and friends who have your back 10 - That's My Word: Another catchy mid tempo song 11 - Girl, Lady, Woman: Standout track about finding the right one. Very bouncy 12 - It's Okay: Another classic Next slow jam. Reminds me of Call On Me from Nextasy which is one of my favourite Next jams 13 - Brand New: Great slow song about reaffirming commitment to your girl 14 - All Because Of You: In my opinion this is probably the weakest song on the album but the song is really all in the lyrics here. 15 - Freaky Man: Another classic Next slow jam. The beat is reminiscent of a song called 2nd Kelly from R. Kelly's R. album and Cybersex from Nextasy and the hook is borrowed from Taste So Good from Rated Next There is also an untitled bonus track at the end of the album. Overall Next has kept true to their style while adding an element of feel good music to their style. They deliver their thrid classic in as many albums.

wow... i love this next cd. i've been a fan of next ever since the song "Too Close". their second album was alright but their third project was marvelous. its a wonder that it did not get enough attention. all the songs are the album are good. the intro and "Imagine That","Do your thing" are all good songs. the mood gets cooler with tracks 7,8 and 9. then track 10 is SIMLPY PERFECT. the beat, the vocals...you cannot complain. i love the piano in the background and i usually play this song cruising down the highway when i'm coming back from work in in the early morning hours with the sunrise and everything... its just the perfect theme song. i like 11 and 12. then comes the song that gets to me most... my #1 track ; track 13 "Brand New". i love that song so much. it is such a relaxing song. it reminds you of a lot of stuff. the vocals, as usual, are great but i just love the beat. the guitar or whatever percussion instrument they used was simply off the hook. 14 and 15 are pretty good and i love track 16 (untitled). i play it at night when coming back from somewhere. like i said before, i play it cause it is the best theme song for that atmosphere.one thing i noticed about NEXT albums (in my opinion) is that their last tracks are always very good. i can't wait till the next NEXT album. for all those writing negative comments/reviews about them... ALL Y'ALL JUST HATERS!!!

First I would like to say that I was [upset] that Next didn't get too much air play or recognition for this cd because it was very good. This is their most mature cd which shows how much they've grown in three years. When I first got this cd, I must admit that I wasn't hooked on it like I thought I would've been. But when I started listening to this cd on a regular basis, I became addicted! You will never see me without my Next and RL cd's, EVER!!!My Most Favorite Songs: My Love, All Because of you, Lights Out, Imagine That, That's My Word,Brand New, and Do your Thing. My cool Songs: Your Love Is,I'm Tryin To What,Just Like That,Feels Good,Hold me Down, Freakyman, and It's Okay. My Moody/sometimes good song: Girl, Lady, Woman Besides that one song this cd is very raw and I love Next with my life. I hope they make another cd cuz they are very talented guys and I would hate to see them stop over this one cd because it didn't have platinum status.

UNDER-RATED,

How this CD fell under the radar compared to their 2 star sophmore album Welcome II Nextasy, only in the world we live in. This CD picks up where to solo effort of R.L. left off, with more growing. Their last effort (which featured 50 cent, yeah) was so cheesy compared to their first take, I would have to put "Lets make a Movie" as a top song. But this CD gets all the aspects of good old urban R&B. It has some great love songs (Imagine that, Lights out, It's okay) and respect to women (Hold me Down and Girl, Lady, Woman). But where the CD makes it a 4 star album for me is track 7, Feels Good. Play this the first day of spring, and for 4 minutes it will help you forget all the bad stuff going on in the world. Of course it has some cheesy moments (Do your thing, Just like that, and the Sisqo'eque Freaky Man), but all and all, a good showing, more signs of Next's growth.

After a disappointing second album, R&B group next is almost unheard of with no hype from any tv or radio stations about their new album. I decided to buy it because I liked the single "Imagine That" as well as R.Ls voice, and I recieved a pleasant surprise. This was a good album. Tweety: He's got the most solid tone of ne1 in the group R.L.: The most vibrant T-low: Smoothest voice Best songs: 2. Your love is, 3. Imagine that, 7. Feels good, 11. Girl, Lady woman and 13. Brand New r all excellent and tight mid-tempo jams I just want to say that despite the fact that there was no hype surrounding this CD, it's good and y'all should cop it.

This is an r&b album with something lots of r&b albums lack often nowadays: quality. Next did a great job with "The Next Episode". I strong recommend this album to potential buyers because I don't think anyone will be disappointed. Their vocals are strong, their lyrics are good and the production is right for the album.
This album has both slow and fast songs on it, something that is always good. I like an album that can change my mood as I listen to it. "Brand New" is the first song I remember after listening to this album once. The song is very cute. A lot of people like it. The song is about being in a relationship for a long time, but being able to keep the chemistry between the two parties in the relationship by treating the relationship as if it was brand new. "Do Your Thing" is a really good party song about telling a female (and a male) to "do their thing" on the dance floor. Next is famous for having good dance songs. For example, they helped make names for themselves with "Wifey" and "Too Close", both part songs. "It's OK" is just "OK". This is a ballad that bores me and nothing about it really stands out. "Freaky Man" and "Hold Me Down" are fillers. The lyrics are elementary and the production is nothing special. As a whole, this album is really good. I think this album should have done much better than it did. If you listen to it, I don't think you'll be disappointed. But, in order to hear the quality of it, you'll probably have to listen more than once, like I did. NEXT PLEASE! Mikeisha's Top 5 1. Brand New 2. Lights Out 3. Do Your Thing 4. Imagine That 5. Your Love Is

Underrated but not too good either,
This review is from: The Next Episode (Audio CD)
Next had great hits with "Too Close" and "Wifey" so i expected that this album would include dozens of new hits too, but it didn't. It didn't sell to good either, but it aint that bad either, just not those top hits. "Feels good" is my favorite, a catchy soulsih uptempo song. And a funky colaboration with Jaheim is good too "Your love is". Most of the songs are decent actually, many many slow jams though but they grow on you. "Just like that" is good, one of the songs they prove they capabilities in. 16 songs on the cd, i believe a few too much. At the end of the day its a decent album but it could have been alot better.

.....incredible album from beginning to end. The powerful intro sucks you right into this album. The beat itself just makes u feel that power along w/ their voice. RL said it best....the beginning has the bangin' club type beats and lyrics that makes u just wanna bop ur head in your car as you're crusin' down the blvd. trying to see ur significant other. Next thing u know u got your partner noddin' their head to the beat too, the middle tracks starts slowing down your mood a bit with tracks like "Feels Good" and my fav. song "Lights Out"....and by the time u reach that *destination/exclusive spot* you end it w/ a bang while listenin' to "Freaky Man". Their voices are so much more powerful and mature then their 2nd album, CONGRATS NEXT!!! Keep up the good work, can't wait to see yall in concert this spring/summer.((Next FRIEND for LIFE....)) And remember, the fans will luv yall today, and hate yall next week...but the true friends will support yall every step of the way!

Best R&B Album in several years,
By "dramamean" (Miami, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Next Episode (Audio CD)
Next has done it - they have managed to find a happy medium between hip hop and R&B. While many of the R&B groups out these days are still trying to find a way to bridge the two genres... Next has already mastered it... In other words, this should be your first purchase of 2003 if you are an R&B fan. The club tracks are hot and not too fast they actually manage to co-exist very well with the slower jams. In fact, even some of their club-type joints are romantic in their own way and will not intrude on setting the proper mood for you and your *ahem* significant other. in fact, by the time you get to the end and the flawless "Freaky Man" you should be so entangled in a flesh pretzel to realize that this song is a true gem.. and the first AUTOMATIC BOOT KNOCKER song of the year... Possibly the best "lets get down to business" song since Silk's smash "Freak Me"By the way - "Feels Good" will be the summer smash of 2003.. thats right - you heard it here first.. well what are you waiting for? cop this immediately - your girl will thank you for it
