Pararas-Caryannis leads the reader - professional or layman -
through a detailed background covering earthquakes, tsunamis,
California geography and history, seismology, then finally
summarizing factually the odds of major earthquakes in likely
localities. And he does so in terms that all of us can
understand and appreciate.

I believe your review of "The Big One" was way off base and almost sounded like some kind of personal attack. Granted, Dr. Wheeler, you are entitled to your opinion. However, I suggest you check out Dr. Pararas-Carayannis' website ( [...] ). It speaks for itself. Also listed there is his bio and partial list of his many high-quality, scientific publications.

This was an intriguing and insightful book. Dr. Pararas-Carayannis makes compelling scientific arguments for the plausibility of a massive earthquake to strike California. The ensuing disaster scenarios he illustrates are realistic. Overall worth a read!
