This review is from: Next Step Guitar: Chords Made Easy (Paperback)
I love this book. The first few pages cover what most beginner guitar books cover, and then shows how almost all modern music works in terms of chord progressions and the cycle of fifths, and how you only need to know a handful of chord shapes to play just about anything (and not using barre chords, though he has a page about those too). This book is really all you'll need to learn to play guitar chords, and how to know what chords to play and how they lock together into music.
I'm only a fairly beginner guitar player, but I can see that I'm progressing more quickly with this book than from anything else I've tried, because there's nothing to memorize - it's just concepts that interlock and let you move around the fretboard actually knowing what you're doing instead of playing from memory. And it's lots of fun, and the whole book is only 50 pages.
Highly recommended. Don't waste money on chord dictionaries - understand how chords are constructed and you're home free.
