While working and listening to an on-line radio station the song "Riveria" was played. I immediately clicked on the artists' info. What a surprise...I had never heard of Philippe Saisse. I kept requesting the song to be played quite a few times. A friend was over listening to it as well. We finally jumped in the car, went to the store to purchase it. The entire cd is great. A very smooth, relaxing and mellow CD. Something any jazz virtuoso would appreciate.

...that is what you'll say and feel when you listen to these mellow and very aphrodisiacal compositions this Maestro has put together. A very moody mélange indeed...then you're high will come to a very rude and annoying interruption when you get to track #11!! What was this "D-Knowledge" thinking?!?! You might think it cool if you're into "slam"-type poetry, but I found it very cacophonous...
Phillipe Saisse is just that pianist/artist/composer I've been hoping to find. He's taken this "smooth-jazz" thing to a very innovative, intoxicating, and sexy new level--
C~

An extremely pleasant, upbeat collection with Saisse's smooth jazz piano backed by trumpet, electric bass, guitar (Marc Antione on one cut), wire-brushed percussion, electronic drums, and sound effects (whistling on track 1). Track 11, Miracle, is an awful rap by D-Knowledge. His is a voice from another genre and is best ignored. All other tunes are great.

Sit Back. Chill. Groove to this chunky piece of immensely cool music.
Saisse is the man! If I could have one keyboardist in my band, it would be him. Awesome! He has every type of keyboard sound down. Very fresh. Only one drawback though: "Miracle." I cannot fathom why this "cut" made the "cut". If it was put on with the intention of "slapping you in the face with crap" in mind, it succeeds. Probably would have been good without the voice. 11 out of 12 ain't bad. Ain't bad at all!
If you really want to hear what Phillipe can do, check out "Valerian" on Windham Hill Recs., (if you can find it). It is a member, (#11), of TLR's "Top Thirteen Albums To Be Buried With" list. It was his debut album and is very enchanting and very worth the effort of locating. It sadly doesn't appear in Amazon's archives. It may be long out of print. Good luck!

I thoroughly enjoy most forms of jazz, but especially "smooth jazz." I heard the track "Moan'in" on a jazz radio show, and made a note of the artist. Unfortunately, that cut is the best of the CD. Most of the tunes are original compositions by Mr. Saisse, which doesn't necessarily make them of poor quality. However, it's hard to determine what the tunes really are due to the over production of the entire CD. It's as if Mr.Saisse were turned loose in the recording studio with every tool at his disposal, and he was determined to use as many as possible on as many tunes as possible. He is a superb artist, and has since developed both in performing and recording. Again, this is not a "bad" CD. I find that I pick it up, then set it to the side, and have not listened to it for months. I just can't really recommend it. I much prefer two newer releases: "The Body and Soul Sessions" and "My Favorite Songs." The basis for these two CDs is a trio. In particular, David Finck, the bass player, is outstanding. Most of the cuts are pop tunes or standards that Mr.Saisse uses as a vehicle for his wonderful playing and arranging. His version of the old standard, "Laura," on "My Favorite Songs" is simply superb. I've played both of these CDs almost daily since I purchased them. In my opinion, buy both of the newer CDs, and skip "Next Voyage."

As an avid, young 21 year old modern jazz fan, I always keep my ears open to unique sounds. This latest CD is nothing but unique. The keyboard stylings of Saisse on this spectacular CD make you feel like your in a jazzy club enjoying the night life. I think that this album was a great follow up to his first album "Masques." Phillippe isn't a stranger to producing great music. He co-produced and performed on Gato Barbieri's latest CD entitled "Que Pasa." This album by Phillippe Saisse is a must have for any jazz fan.

I don't know this artist and will need to study more about him(through google and/or Wikipedia.
I cant think of anything I dislike; I do like his music, but there is one particular song that I like entitled "Young Nation." And his music has that jazz-like sound, and I like jazz. I assume that his music is that of jazz.
Anyone who loves jazz.
