This is one of the best made for cable-T.V. crime dramas. It has just the right mix of suspense, drama, comedy, & a little love story. It keeps you guessing from begining to end. Kyra Sedgewick is a WONDERFUL actress that is a star for the younger as well as the uuuuhhhmmmm older (like me) fans. She is easy to identify with, especially being a woman working in a man's field. (like me!)You can't go wrong becoming a fan of this series!

The third season of the Closer was amazing. I've been a devoted fan from day one of when the show began airing on TNT. I cannot wait until the fourth season starts Monday July 14th at 9p.m. You bet I'll be recording it on my DVR player as well as watching it live. The episodes this season were Amazing!! I've heard great news about the fourth season and what to expect. If you are a devoted Closer Fan then, buy this set. While we don't get as many episodes as others shows on tv, I continue to watch this show for the creativity of the writers and producer. I watch it for character development, plot, and the comedy. Continue the great work Kyra and the rest of the Closer gang! This Season is another excellent addition to your Closer Collection!

The Closer: Season 3

I started watching the closer midway through season two and fell in love with it!!!! I watch it all the time now and HAD to purchase them all!!

The closer is a brilliantly composed show!

Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) is back in season three of TNT's crime procedural The Closer. With a couple years at the Los Angeles police department already under her belt, Brenda has proven that her eccentric method works at getting confessions from even the most hardened criminals. But even she's not quite sure how to handle the season opener, where a slaughtered family's sole survivor is the stunned, stoned teenage son. Bleak, dark and wonderfully scripted, the opener sets the tone for the 14 episodes that follow it. With an exaggerated Southern drawl that belies her hard edged attitude, Brenda is at her best in the field. But when dropped into personal situations, she often flounders. For instance, though she commands a team of officers underneath her, she still doesn't know how to tell her parents she lives with her boyfriend, FBI special agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney, Fools Rush In). The awkward (and sometimes poignant) moments between Johnson and her folks humanize her, giving her added dimension. Sedgwick is adept at comedy, and a couple of the episodes take advantage of her skills. Jostling with an over zealous bridezilla at a crime scene, Johnson becomes the subject of a popular Youtube video. "You've become the most downloaded fully-clothed woman on the Internet," announces her boss, Will Pope (J.K. Simmons). There is some internal drama when Brenda is ordered to make budget cuts by firing someone in her group. But the best moments occur when Brenda--calm as a cucumber--does what she does best: closes cases.

I will say right off, this is a review of the series in general. Seems silly to write one for each year. I like so many others watched this when it was on the air. It was one of the few shows I set up on my TIVO with a Season pass. Like most TV police shows it had a lot of procedural mistakes. Despite this. It tried hard to make it believable. The characters were a great team. They all had they're own charm and make this one of the best police shows ever. As sad as I was to see it end, I was glad it did when it did. As so many others on a fixed income I was forced to give up cable. I saw the 1st episode of " Major Crimes " which replaced it and it appeared it would carry on the tradition.
The fact that this show gave a look into the lives of the officers off duty as well as on made for many great story lines. Humor included.
For those who have never viewed it, (are there any) I strongly say, its a great series to slam through.

and plots make an excellent television series. This cast is wonderful and the writing harkens back to a time when television was clever and worth watching. I never miss The Closer!

Actually, my comments cover the episodes in the first 4 1/2 seasons, not just Season 3. Nice idea but a little too much political correctness in some episodes. Also, a little too maudlin at times, although mostly a balanced presentation, pretty good over all. I like Kyra and her crew. I enjoyed the fellow who plays Chief Pope and who also has appeared in the Coen Brothers movie, "Burn After Reading." He is equally as good here and you get to see much more of him in this series; he does a great job. I also was interested to see that in real life Kyra is the wife of Kevin Bacon. As to Kyra's boyfriend/ husband in the series, I had to keep wondering whether he ever goes to work or just mostly stays around the house, cleaning up and looking after the cat; not exactly a Rambo, more like the stereotype of the husband of Margaret Thatcher. Finally, it's a bit of US version of the 1990s "Prime Suspect" with Helen Mirren and, in its way, a nice, down-home kind of rival. Again, I like it enough to continue watching through the final 7th season.
