Get in the groove with the Nextar MA933A-B digital MP3 player. The compact device supports a host of audio formats, including MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, and WAV, giving you plenty of options when working out at the gym or commuting to work. Listeners will also dig the MP3 player's multiple playback modes, which include repeat play (one and all tracks), random play, and browse play. And should you need to record an interview or take a few voice notes, the MA933A handles that, too, with a built-in microphone that records into WAV format. After recording, you can easily transcribe the files via such playback options as section repeat and comparison repeat--a must when trying to decipher a hard-to-follow section.

Storage-wise, the unit offers 128 MB of flash memory, enough for up to two hours of MP3 music and four hours of WMA audio. The unit's seven-band equalizer, meanwhile, lets you customize your audio options, with natural, rock, pop, classic, jazz, and digital bass boost settings. Add in a dot-matrix LCD display--with seven different backlight colors to keep things interesting and a visual picture menu with individual icons--and you have everything you need for hours of on-the-go audio entertainment. Other details include ID3 tagging, support for multiple languages, a sync lyric function that displays the lyrics to your favorite songs while you listen (requires .LRC files), and a direct USB 2.0 plug that connects directly to your computer--no cable required. The MA933A, which runs for 10 hours on one AAA battery, sports a blue housing that measures a mere 4 by 1 by 0.8 inches (W x H x D). The MP3 player is also backed by a 90-day warranty.

I have experienced no problems at all with this nifty gadget. I even dropped it once while running and it didn't skip a beat (pun intended). I love this player. I use it everyday while riding the bus to work. I even use it to store files for my job. I work as a computer help desk specialist at a college and I need files to be transferred to computers all over the campus. (EDIT: this was back when I didn't have many needs from a jump drive. Nowadays I store Windows Service Packs & stuff like that, so this would be a no go today.) The backlight is flawless. I intended to use it in the dark and I do just that. Awesome! 128MB is just enough for me. Excellent Nextar product.
When I first opened the package and inserted it into my computers USB port I was impressed at the speed it was recognized. Then it's drag and drop from there. Just drag you files from your hard drive and drop then into the Removable drive folder that pops up in your "My Computer" just like a normal Flash Drive operates. I began to listen to the tunes & used my own headphones (Sony) instead of the ones supplied. I get better stereo sound from them. I don't even use the supplied USB cable since there's no need. Just pop off the cap and plug it into you computer. And another thing: the scrolling marqee with music filenames are wonderful. I love how the song's artist name, album name, and track name are displayed as a marquee (scrolling across the little screen). The screen is crystal clear. Lovely piece of equipment. Nextar rocks.
(EDIT: As of Windter 2008, the backlight has failed on me, sorry to say.)

This player works great, but it will not play wma's purchased from the walmart downloading service (it does play unprotected wma's and mp3's without any problems). This isn't because there's anything wrong with the player, but because of the way they encode their files.

This was a low priced nice item of which we baught for our kids, they downloaded easy and is a operfect gift for kids for their girs mp3 player, or even 2nd or someone with not tons of songs to download. it holds quite a bit for the price. It is very durable and easy to handle. It is also easy to use, no hi tec things to figure out. I love that. We love it and both my kids are very happy. We first had an Iriver and I couldn't download to save my life. this was a puiece of cake.
