This review is from: Nextbase Tablet style 7" Portable DVD Player with Car Mount and 2 Wireless headphones, Features Top Loader Slot, Built-in Stereo Speakers, Full Remote Control and Built-in IR Transmission (Electronics)
The first disappointment was that the AC Power jack, is for Spanish outlets, and it didn't came with one for the US, so you have to buy an adapter. And the problem is not the extra 2usd, instead is that you have a new toy for your kids and you can't make it work because you need the stupid adapter, and the kids don't understand why a bran new DVD isn't able to work properly. (people with 2 years kids will understand what I mean)In the Nextbase site, gives you the impression that you power the base and when you clip it to the base, the DVD will be powered, but it doesn't. You have to mount the DVD and the plug the DC cable, and the it will ask for a password and after you typed it will play (maybe the password step can be suppress, but I don't know yet). So if you have 2 year old kids this password is a draw back, because you have to sit them on their chair, plug the DVD, wait until it boots, unlock it and the you can go to the drivers seat and turn on the car, and if you like you car to be neat looking you will be frustrated because, you have to plug the power directly to the DVD and then you will have a cable wobbling in the car. So for me this was a big disappointment. RF adapter for the ear phones it doesn't snap neatly, if you put the inlets on front of the outlets is a difference about 2mm between each other, so you have to make them match with some twisting and pushing, for know it works but I'm worry that is going to last for a year or so! I thought it was more robust, but it seams that is very fragile, with a lot of plastic every were. I thought that the snap on clip was going to be metal for a long life, but it's plastic and it does seam that is very likely to break after some use. Finally, for the first trip it worked fine, it never skipped and the picture quality is very good. The in built speakers do their job, for a small pair of speakers. |
