Wowee Zowee! As you may know, I'm the de facto "poster child" for Nextos-- I eat these up like so many potato chips. Here's why you need this one: 7200 rpm!
Fast & furious, this big boy will safely gobble up your files, even if they're not video. Imagine how much faster your images will load to this device. No need to carry a card reader. Small, lightweight and still slick for travel, it will VERIFY every precious file transferred, a function other devices won't.
Use it as a regular external drive for your puny laptop's storage (let's face it, whatever is onboard is not enough, especially if it's an image-maker's notebook), and is easy backup from the laptop as well. You can use it as a Photoshop scratch drive on the road. I also off-load to it from my daughter's hard-drive-storage-only camcorder. Can put a whole trip's worth of video and photos on it, all without needing a computer. When I get home, I can enjoy the fastest connection to my desktop via eSATA. This baby will even upgrade to 2TB! Unbelievable gem.

I already have a Nexto Extreme with the 160gig and wanted to get one that has 500 gig (the unit can recognize upto 2 terabyte HD). Have been doing some work with a photographer who also does high end video. So I decided to look at both a higher hard drive and the 2725 which can recognize Sony and Panasonic high-end formats. The unit is as strong as the 2700 but I just love the case it comes with - a real upgrade from the one with the 2700 (I just one of the cases for my 2700 also). What is really great is I talked to some Red Digital shooters and they love the CF slot and the ability to download directly. eSata output means fast transfer to my desktop and using the Sync feature means my folders are automatically updated when I have new images
