On week 4 it stopped turning on all together. i put new batteries in, and it briefly worked for another day and then would not turn on again.

Over in a two week span, the left button popped up and started to make clicking noises which made myself peeved.

The mouse suffers stuttering and skipping problems. Frequently, the pointer will disappear and reappear somewhere else on the screen. Very frustrating. I assumed it was caused by 2.4GHz interference, but i removed all other 2.4GHz peripherals, and am still seeing the problem.

It also has problems with the buttons getting stuck when you alternate between right and left clicks.

However, the clicking is pretty quiet. But not entirely "silent" as the name would lead you to believe.

It is important to read other reviews and I saw some good and bad so I went with this mouse anyways, that was a mistake.

The reason people are reporting "ghosting", skipping, and stuttering is as follows:
Most optical mice simply use a red beam to "read" where the mouse is located on the desktop at any time. This is why a mousepad is no longer needed. There is no physical ball to roll, etc.

In a mystifying decision of backwardness, this mouse -is- designed with a physical component. It channels it's red beam into a small plastic foot that touches the desk and protudes beyond the bottom of the mouse. As the mouse receives more and more usage this foot eventually bends a bit due to the pressure of everyday mousing.

What happens then? It either will lose its track, skip, or simply cease to work.

Reboxed, and returned to vendor. This is a silly design.

Oh, it is quiet...

I bought this product because it was wireless, silent and easy to use. I'm currently a college student that needed something quiet to use while in the library. It was perfect, I couldn't hear the clicking noise to much at all, and it was nice and smooth. Over in a two week span, the left button popped up and started to make clicking noises which made myself peeved. Next the mouse wouldn't pick up a signal from the USB receiver. After two weeks of moderate use, the mouse died on me. I changed the batteries thinking that was just it but when I tried to use this mouse, it wouldn't turn on anymore. This product seems very clean cut but isn't. I recommend you don't buy this due to the fact the cheap core this mouse actually has.

I wanted a quiet mouse because the loud clicks were coming through during skype conversations and teleconferences.

I also have two computers hooked up to the a monitor/keyboard/speaker switch.
Many wireless devices (even bluetooth) do not support that kind of switching because you have to pair the device with the dongle receiver.

Not so with this mouse! It works perfectly with both computers and does not require "repairing"!

Love it.

UPDATE:

After 2 weeks of use, the left mouse button has started to "squeak" when pressed. Now, it actually does sound like a live mouse. I may have to return it and get a new one. Until then, I'm dropping my rating by 1 star.

I bought this for my son several years ago and it saved me from killing him. The click-click-click of his other mouse was so loud, I hated it when he was gaming on the PC. This new mouse is perfectly silent and has lasted him several years. I will never buy a non-silent mouse for him again.

Well first off I am a gamer but the clicking was really annoying. I bought this and all my troubles were gone.... It was the best month of my life. Sad enough to say after about a month the battery died as to be expected, I mean the darn thing never seemed to turn off. So I replace the battery thinking things would go back to how they were before and behold 1 week later the mouse is acting up again, lagging and freezing as it pleases. This is about when I realized things were going bad because there is no way the battery would run out in just a week, I buy a new pack of batteries, Still doesnt work, buy a different brand of batteries, still doesnt work. I mean the mouse works but its freezing and lagging and there is no way you can possibly play a game with that. So now I throw the great nexus mouse in the back of my closet where it belongs and have switched back to my old loud and annoying mouse and am saving up for a new mouse.

Things like this turns me off of the company and I will never buy a nexus mouse again. It felt really cheap when I first got it almost like it was made out of plastic but I didnt pay too much attention to that, and now I have a crap mouse that breaks 1 week after I am able to return it, thats 35$ that I am never going to get back, I will be calling and raging at nexus and amazon in an attempt to get back my money but long story short stay away from nexus and all there products, the proverbial fruit doesnt fall far from the proverbial tree.

The mouse is very very quiet - this I am pleased by. However, I find that the pointer doesn't reliably track the motions of the mouse. There are times I'm rapidly scrolling and the mouse pointer motion is jerky. It appears to not recognize movement for very brief periods of time, causing the jerking/inaccurate scrolling experience. I do not believe there is any interference from other wireless devices nearby - moving these closer/further away (even a few rooms away) does not obviously affect this behavior.

While generally this would simply be annoying, for gaming purposes it becomes unacceptable. If you need high mouse accuracy I'd recommend another selection.
