I purchased this because it was a bit less expensive than ones I've seen in stores and it was narrower than most so it would fit in the space I had. Requires (included) 64 screws to put the 5 shelves together, 8 screws to put the 2 3-piece sides together, and 10 screws to attach the shelves to the sides. The shelves are about half as thick as the shelves I've seen at Target, Crate & Barrel, & The Container Store which have prices ranging from around $100 - $150.

Had 4 problems: 1. The routed out area on the side pieces for the bottom 2 shelves were routed out too wide so that the shelves wiggled - other 3 shelves were nice and tight. 2. Some of the side connections were loose - this was partially due to that the screws sometimes didn't go all the way in (screw head insets not consistent) so that it stripped the soft wood of the connecting piece. 3. The middle side pieces were a different width than the top & bottom side pieces making it look not so great. 4. The manufacturer didn't thoroughly removing all the sawdust before painting, so there are some sawdust bumps on some areas of the shelves.

I returned the shelf...

this is a nice unit. I am using to display my Christmas Village. I was a little disappointed that it is in 3 sections, but once put together is seems really sturdy.

I love this product. It is exactly what I was looking for a country look. We put it against a colored wall to make it stand out. We are very pleased.

I ordered three of these to place side-by-side for display purposes. I expected to have to screw them together for additional support. But, the MDF is very thin; the side supports come in 3 pieces to be screwed together to make the long part the "ladder." The constructed product both looks and feels cheap and flimsy.
I have ordered many items from Amazon over the years. This is the first that I've ever sent back...and the first bad review that I've ever written. Save yourself the aggravation and disappointment and select a different product.

I bought this shelf to fit in a small bedroom. It is a bit light but for the price it is OK.
