I use this clarifying shampoo every few weeks to wash away the chemicals/product build-up that cannot be washed away with the natural shampoos that I have started using during most washes. (If all of your hair products aren't "all-natural", it is likely that you will need to use sulfates at times to wash away the build-up from those products). The product has "Gentle" in its name, and it certainly is! My hair does not feel stripped at all when I rinse the product out; it actually feels soft! Additionally, my hair does not feel dry once it is dry and styled, as it had when I was using cheap shampoos with sulfates. It does not lather very much and has an okay smell, although no smell lingers after it has been rinsed away, so the smell is of little consequence. Overall, I would highly recommend this product when one needs to wash away chemicals (whether from the environment or hair products) and product build-up.

*Note: I have never tried the old formula spoken about in a couple of the other reviews, so I cannot offer a comparison.

Let's just say that since I now have two bottles of this garbage I can scratch cheap store-brand liquid dish soap off my shopping list.

This new formula in the bottle with the black cap is terrible. A far far cry from the salon quality Aloe Rid I have used before. Deserves a zero star rating.

Will now start my search for the original salon formula.

I have not yet tried Aloe Rid since the formula change, but all I know is that the old version is the absoulte BEST clarifying shampoo I have ever used! I am so frustrated that I cannot find the original formula anywhere. I have fine hair and an oily scalp, but dry ends.... This shampoo clarifies my scalp leaving it less oily for a few days, without stripping or drying my hair even further. It simply leaves it feeling squeaky clean. I wish I could find more!

This is the greatest shampoo ever, particularly if you are a swimmer. If it is true that Nexxus has changed the formula since the bottles that I purchased were produced, that's a crying shame. Luckily I now have close to a lifetime supply.

I purchased this product at Biglot for cheap and found it to be great for the hard water area that I live in. Says its for hard water, minerals and hair dulling impurities. I live in an area with lime and calcium dumped water along with chlorine so this shampoo is perfect!

Great to use if you are doing alot of swimming and you are getting chlorine build-up in your hair. Hair feels very clean, I need to use conditioner after the Aloe Rid. I use Humectress (Nexxus), also a great product.

This shampoo leaves my hair feeling super clean and soft. how ever i have naturally curly hair and after using the product my hair dries straight and very limp. i bought this product to use before a hair strand drug test but have no taken the test yet so i can not review how it works for that.
