I have used this product for years and love it. Perfect strangers have complimented me on my "silver" hair, and friends consistently do so. Simply Silver gives "white" hair a rich silver tone that shows it off beautifully, and I wouldn't be without it.

This product is deep purple. If you're using it for gray hair, you either have to dilute it or alternate it with another shampoo, or you'll end up with the lavender hair look so common in older ladies of yesteryear. (On the other hand, this may be your goal: there was an article in the New York Times about girls in their 20's putting gray and lavender streaks in their hair as a trend (Spring, 2010). If it's your goal to tone the yellow out of gray or bleached hair, I would suggest a shampoo with BLUE tone.

I use this shampoo to tone down the brassiness in my light brown hair. It has the most concentrated color of all the toning shampoos I've tried plus it smells good unlike some others on the market. It is expensive, but it is worth every penny. As you continue to use it, the color effect gets stronger. I use it daily on my brown hair it has given me lovely wine color highlights which really compliment my skin tone. If you have pink toned skin, this is the shampoo for you. If the color gets too strong, just skip a few days. For silver colored hair, I think I'd use it a little more sparingly, just so you wouldn't end up as one of those "little old purple-haired ladies".

One of the reviews complained of a lavender appearance after using. Hard water may/will cause that. I've used this product for years with soft water and the result is amazing.

The product arrived in excellent condition.... now seeing if it does what recommended by beautician. I don't think so, but will use until gone. I'll remember not to take beautician's advice.
