5.0 out of 5 stars The Ni Hao series from a learner's perspective
This series of books come from Australia where I'm told Chinese is a fairly common language for study at High School (second only to Japanese and perhaps French). The Friedlein's have put a lot of effort into designing these books and the results demonstrate that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unorganized
I found this book unorganized and extremely frustrating. I've had to use it for a high school class for 3 years now (I'm on the 3rd book now), and each book just gets more annoying than the last. I extremely advise you look at other books unless this is your only choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ni Hao series from a learner's perspective, January 6, 2005
This review is from: Ni Hao 1: Simplified Character Revised Student Workbook Edition (Chinese Edition) (Paperback)
This series of books come from Australia where I'm told Chinese is a fairly common language for study at High School (second only to Japanese and perhaps French). The Friedlein's have put a lot of effort into designing these books and the results demonstrate that.

Unlike most boring text-bound books that seem to be rooted in the Victorian era, this series is lively, interesting and fun. It's really everyday Chinese suited for meeting and talking with people rather than formal essay writing.

It's ideal for older children and I (nearer to my 40s than teenage years) appreciate the no nonsense straightforward presentation. I don't want to sit down to hours of study and boring repetition - learning should be fun!

I really can't recommend this book enough. I've reviewed this and many other books on my website, plus give some FAQs on becoming more fluent in Chinese (search for "lintech chinese" in google)

Compare for yourself! And good luck learning this great language - you won't be disappointed once you've got there!
