Product Description

Niagara's Earth® Showerhead saves money by using up to 40% less water than traditional "low-flow" showerheads typically found on the market. While the Earth® Showerhead ensures drastic water usage reductions, the patented pressure compensating technology still guarantees a powerful, consistent flow rate regardless of available water pressure. The showerhead features a 9-jet adjustable turbo massage that easily rotates from a gentle needle spray to a forceful jet. As the stream is non-aerated, the showerhead experiences less temperature loss -- translating to maximum energy savings. Offered in white or chrome plated finish, the corrosion-resistant, high-impact ABS thermoplastic body meets or exceeds ANSI specifications and is guaranteed for 10-years. Saves money by ensuring up to 40% lower water usage than traditional "low-flow" showerheads currently on the market Reduced water usage also reduces cost for heating water Patented pressure-compensating technology guarantees a feeling of great force while using less water, consistent flow rate regardless of water pressure Three showerhead spray settings: needle, massage, combination”

Great economical water flow at full spray setting that's pressure soft and feels good on the skin.

I've tried several low flow showerheads now, and I like this the best. It is better than the kind that mix air in, because those are loud. This gives good pressure, and feels almost the same as a regular 2.5 GPM showerhead, while only using 1.5 GPM, saving water, heat, money, and carbon footprint! I'm very impressed actually. (So impressed that I bothered to write this review - which I hardly ever do.)

Summary: I've owned two, first purchased June 2010, 2nd August 2012. They work really well for a phenomenal price, Niagara does appear to redesign for improvement, but in my experience do not last.

Summary: The review below applies generally to both; the difference is a higher flow rate for the new one: 1.5g vs 1.2g for full blast cold water; also, the spray feels softer. The first failed after 2 years due to chrome plating flaking off INSIDE the head, abrading o-rings, and clogging passages. The second failed 3/6/14 after 1.5 years due to o-ring failure (distended).

We have pretty good water pressure here- I think about 60 psi.

Pro: Feels good, and you can get clean! That's what a shower is all about.

Cons: You have to work a little to get fully rinsed. First one I purchased clogged after about 6 months use by *one person*. I initially thought the problem was hard water (what the manufacturer suggested), but I finally took it apart, and saw no mineral deposits. I did find all the o-rings were disintegrating- apparently abraded. I think they may be cheap, there's grit inside and the real culprit is the chrome coating breaking down and abrading/clogging the head parts. A vinegar rinse appeared to flush it out for awhile- makes no sense, but that was my experience..
Tip: spray your head first to warm up the rest of you.

Comments:
- I do not use the massage setting, so no opinion on that.
- the water loses heat quickly due to fine spray, so run the water fairly hot.
- I have hard water (103-205 ppm, 6-12 grains), so shower heads may eventually clog with minerals..
- my "fussier" relatives seem to be happy with it, although wish for more water.

(Note: I think I have a 1.25 GPM model)...For the price, this shower-head is almost perfect, the massage setting leaves a tad to be desired, but it's still a nice feature. The spray, however, is awesome, nice and powerful and not too thin like some other low-flow shower-heads. The water stays nice and warm, unlike aerated types. This is probably the best shower-head I have ever used, not including some of the fancy hotel ones I've used. I like it so much that I have already recommended this product to all of my friends and family. If you're looking for an economic solution to reduce your water usage/costs, this is the one for you...GET IT!

We don't have great water pressure, but this showerhead makes it feel like we do. I'm very happy with it -- I have long, thick hair and I haven't noticed any troubles rinsing it with this showerhead.

This little baby paid for itself in about the first month with water savings and the performance is excellent.

I used the 2.0 gallons per minute version of the Niagara shower head for several years and thought it was fantastic - great pressure, inexpensive, and used significantly less water than the 3.5 gpm version that came with our house. I switched it to the 1.5 gpm version a few weeks ago because our local water company was giving them away - the pressure is noticeably lower and not as satisfying. Worse, it doesn't do nearly as good a job at washing the soap and shampoo off you, so you end up spending a lot longer in the shower to get clean, and ultimately use as much or more water than the 2.0 gpm model.

The Niagara is a great brand of low-flow showerhead - the 1.5 and 1.25 versions just aren't as efficient in the real world as their flow rates would have you believe, and the shower experience isn't nearly as satisfying. I'm switching back to a 2.0 gpm model and not looking back.

I tried the Alsons 655CBX Fluidics Water Saving Shower Head shower head first. No one in the house liked it, even after we got used to it. Did not seem like there was enough water to really shower. Definitely can tell the difference between the Alsons 655CBX Fluidics Water Saving Shower Head water saving shower head and a 2.5 GPM shower head.

Tried the Niagara 1.50 GPM Low Flow Massage Shower head next. Much better. Got used to less water by the second shower. And it is much cheaper. It also has a much wider "swivel travel" when adjusting the direction of the shower water.

One advantage to both shower heads is that the water no longer pools in the bottom of the tub while a shower is being taken. Seems the old 2.5 GPM shower head was too much for the tub drain, and the new 1.5 GPM shower head is perfect.

Both shower heads took longer to adjust water temperature. So if it took 10 seconds after adjusting the hot water knob to affect a 2.5 GPM shower head, it took about 17 seconds to affect a 1.5 GPM shower head, so adjust your hot water knob slowly and give the shower head water time to adjust.
