This review is from: Nicaragua traicionada (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
The history of Nicaragua during the 1970s is tragic. Much has been published telling the of the horrors of the Somoza dictatorship and how it came to an end. Having lived in Nicaragua during those tumultuous years, I am a first-hand witness to some of the happenings. I found it fascinating to read Somoza's views on those same events. While some of his statements made me cringe, I do realize that his point of view was certainly not the one from the man on the street. I found the book interesting if for no other reason than to try to understand what was going through the dictator's mind when he ordered the aerial bombing of the cities or how he justified the repression in the country. I do recommend anyone interested in the history of the Nicaraguan revolution to read this book. It presents the other view of the same events.
