a lot of fun, this one. Riot girl music never sounded better than this. A collection of musicians (one being Yoshimi from the Boredoms, which is the best band ever) who make nice sounds. What else can I say? Buy it.

....exactlly...if you like those roaring soniic youth guitars and kim gordon's hypnptic voice you're gonna love this one....that's for sure my friend....this is a nice side project and if you like good things... so you gotta get it.......

Wonderful! An overlooked jewel., February 22, 2001

Free Kitten is such a pleasant surprise. I wonder why I didn't discover this group earlier. The band concsists of a bullet-proof lineup: Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth, ex Pussy Galore Julie Cafritz, Mark Ibold from Pavement, Yoshimi from the Boredoms and an appearance by DJ Spooky (who frequently appeared on Sonic Youth's SYR recordings). Seriously, with a group like this you can't possibly mess up. The ablum is packed with the raw in-your-face riot grrrl energy, the eclectic Sonic Youth-esque sounds, Pavement's dirty guitar and that trippy hip-hop sound of DJ Spooky. If you enjoy Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Tom Waits (yep, this album got Waits' fingerprints all over it. Especially "Scratch tje DJ"-ring a bell with G String, and "Royal Flush") or just good music in general, this record should appeal you. This is an album you will enjoy on the initial listen and you'll want to go back to it again and again. Highly recommended!
