5.0 out of 5 stars A SMOOTH JAZZ - MUST HAVE CD
Brian Culbertson is young and talented. This is evident by the content of his latest release. He is smart enough to work with some major smooth jazz talent, like Dave Koz, Herb Alpert, Jeff Lorber, Tony Maiden, Ricky Peterson, and Kirk Whalum. He also has some of the best studio musicians in the business working with him too, like Alex Al, and Lenny Castro. This cd...

2.0 out of 5 stars A Little Too Slow
Here's yet another smooooth jazz album, although this one has some interesting things. Herb Alpert's trumpet is a nice fit on "Just Another Day", and Culbertson does some nice playing here and there. But for the most part there is too much of the same feel, with little spontaneity. This will probably do well with the wine-and-cheese crowd.

This cd combines smooth jazz with a touch of r&b, resulting in a satisfying blend (I Wanna Know, Nice & Slow, Someone). Brian's keyboard style easily jams with the funky grooves (Get It On) as well as the soft and smooth ones (Just Another Day, I Could Get Used To This). This is by far one of the best cd's I've purchased in 2001.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and Smooth!, July 18, 2001

Brian Culbertson gets better with each new project. This takes smooth jazz to the next level. He starts off kind of funky with the track titled, "Get It On." There is something for everybody's taste represented here. I like the song with Trey Lorenz, "Nice and Slow", "Someone" featuring Kenny Lattimore on lead vocals and "I Wanna Know." My favorite though is a beautiful piece with an interlude called "Together Tonight." It is so passionate and expressive that I can almost hear words even though it is a completely instrumental song. It hasn't left my cd changer since I bought it almost three weeks ago. The cd itself is dedicated to his wife. There's 'something bout love' that makes for the sweetest inspiration. It's definitely worth a listen!

What more can I say about Brian? This guy is simply incrediable. When you play cut#8 "together tonight"you definately will cause you to bring out the champange and candles and injoy it with the one you love. Then get knocked of you seat by his increditable ren- dition of "I wanna Know" with the help of saxman Kirk Whalum. I took this CD to work with me one friday(thats my longest day at work,an to break the monoply and anything else ,I bring a couple of CD's and my boombox)I dropped in Nice&Slow, cut #8 and all my co-workers wanted to know who that was.after learning who it was ,they said they had to have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep 'em coming!, June 13, 2003

Brian is absolutely wonderful at what he does, creating smooth, yet upbeat, jazz, and this is greatly shown in this album "Nice and Slow." I first learned of this Jazz great through listening to a Jazz station and hearing a song, "You'll Never Find" which quickly became my favorite of all time. I rapidly purchased the album "Secrets" and was also very satisfied with the rest of the album. Later on, i heard "Get it On," an upbeat song with the perfect balance of smoothness, and the same thing happened,I bought "Nice and Slow" and found his best album yet! He is not a one hit wonder at all,
he is instead a competent artist that makes each and every song sound wonderful. And according to his thank you's on the CD leaf, it was "the most fun [he] ever had making an album," and one can tell by how much effort was put into the music, how it was produced, which is never rushed or made just to sell, but to induce an aura of relaxation or even stress-relief whenever the CD is played. I also find his music to be the perfect soundtrack for driving through the city at night (Boston especially). I reccomend this one to anyone who feels that upbeat smooth jazz is to their liking, or that simply wants a fantastic album by an enthusiastic, talented artist
by the name of Brian Culbertson.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's just that Nice & Slow .... GREAT!!!!, January 11, 2004
This review is from: Nice & Slow (Audio CD)
Brian Culbertson does a great job with this cd. The sounds of the horn and keyboard intertwined with a awesome percussion section. This cd is mellow, but has a bit of funk which just takes you to a whole different level. All I can say is get the CD!

Brian Culbertson is a very talented musician. These are some of my favorite on the CD. I think everyone will love "Nice & Slow", "I Could Get Used To This", and of course "Without Your Love" and "I Wanna Know". I highly recommend this CD to the smooth jazz lovers out there.

Nice and Slow is the third album of Brian's that I've bought and I must say that Brian continues to be smooth, funky and innovative. He is by far my favorite artist. One must see him live for a real treat.
