Prague-based Khoiba is a band whose songwriting duties rest on Filip Misek (guitars, synths) and Ema Brabcova (lyrics, vocals, synths); Petr Samal (bass) and Jan Malich (drums) fill out their lineup. Their sound is somewhere between keyboard-drenched shoegaze and dreamy, subtle downtempo. Brabcova’s clear, girlish delivery are what really tie Khoiba’s songs together–a theme of vast space runs through the music, and it is Brabcova’s ambiguous yet intimate vocals that keeps the various elements from straying too far. All in all, Khoiba's sound is an inspired interplay of electronic music and clear, melodious guitar tunes, a creative downtempo mix full of ideas and surprises that creates a unique atmosphere.
