How to Make Yourself Indispensable, Slightly Immortal, and Lifelong Rich in 18 Months!
On the surface it looks simple: writers write something, speakers speak something, they fit it into a niche market, everybody's happy, and the doer gets rich! Alas, niche marketing is a process, not a panacea: it's a thought pattern carried to completion. A path that can lead to financial, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual fulfillment all at the same time.
Gordon Burgett's purpose in his book is to put you on that path in one easy step ready so you can become the creator of your own wealth and ruler of your own reign, wanted and sought while you help build a better world!
Some of the concept comes form two of his earlier books, Empire-Building By Writing And Speaking and Publishing To Niche Markets, where "core development," "topic-spoking," and TCE are first seen.
Unique to these pages is the definition and development of niche marketing itself and how it can be used to realize your life goals, as well as the detailed explanation of the 11 means that constitute the heart of this form of niche marketing.
Will the application of these words make you lifelong rich in 18 months? It could. But it will more likely get you centered, organized, and profitably in motion so that what is created in 18 months will be the base of a foundation of years, then decades, of healthy, happy earning and living.
"Gordon Burgett's three 'niche' writing books are a roadmap for how to use your ability to write to make money." -- Wally Bock's
"Niche Marketing peels back the mystery of how to share valuable information profitably with specialized markets. Extremely useful." -- Robert Tucker, author of Managing The Future
Bravo! Where were you 18 years ago? I had to learn the secrets of niche marketing the hard way. You take the reader by the hand and teach them how to be a big fish in the right pond for fun and profit." -- Dr. Terry Paulson, author of They Shoot Managers They?
Gordon Burgett's theory (it's not even a theory anymore, it's a proven fact) is that people will pay for valuable information. Those possessed of such information can sell it to the many or the few. In most cases, the latter is both easier and more profitable. He claims that following his advice will make readers "indispensable, slightly immortal, and lifelong rich" in 18 months. Sound crazy? It's not....the basic concept has worked for Burgett and thousands of others." -- Bookpeople's Bookpaper, New Titles
Too many authors write for themselves....and their books fail in the marketplace. Gordon reveals the secret to sales success: writing for an identifiable and locatable reader. Every author needs his valuable formula." -- Dan Poynter, author of The Self-Publishing Manual

The choice is simple: you sell what you know to many or to few. Done right, the latter is easier, faster, and far more profitable. It's called NICHE MARKETING, and if that is how you want to sell, this book leads you firmly into the "information revolution" so you can convert what you know into money, prestige, and the understanding that what you share could help change the world.
Gordon Burgett's expertise is "information dissemination by writing and speaking." On these pages he shares over 30 years of experience, teaching, seminaring, and business application. The text is a step-by-step guide through NICHE MARKETING: no-nonsense facts as stepping stones, and humor throughout.
Gordon Burgett currently speaks nationwide about his three arenas of specialization: "How to Get Your Book Published Free in Minutes and Marketed Worldwide in Days," "Niche Publishing: Publish Profitably Every Time," and "Empire Building by Writing and Speaking," offering keynotes, break-out sessions, and workshops at conventions, retreats, and colleges or universities. (See www.gordonburgett.com; for seminar descriptions, please see www.gordonburgett.com/seminars.htm.)
In late 2010, Gordon published "How to Get Your Book Published Free in Minutes and Marketed Worldwide in Days." In bound and/or digital format, it is available from Gordon, Amazon.com, lulu.com, lightningsource.com, createspace.com, smashwords.com, and as a Kindle book. (See www.ancillarypublishing.com.) He then published a how-to example of that book's thesis in "How to Create a High School Graduation Book."
Burgett has also published 1,700+ articles and 40 books, plus offered over 2,000 professional spoken presentations, mostly to associations and conventions and through university extension programs. During that time he has appeared extensively on radio and TV, as a guest author and a publishing specialist. Burgett is a long-standing member of the National Speakers Association, the American Society of Authors and Journalists, and the Independent Book Publishers Association and has produced 26 audio CD and cassette programs. His published books also include How to Sell 75% of Your Freelance Writing, the Travel Writer's Guide, Speaking for Money (with Mike Frank), Sell and Resell Your Magazine Articles (for Writer's Digest Books), Treasure and Scavenger Hunts, Life After Dentistry (with Dr. Jay Hislop), Standard Marketing Procedures for Dentists, The Writer's Guide to Query and Cover Letters, Standard Marketing Procedures for All Dentists (with Reece Franklin), Ten Sales from One Article Idea, and The Query Book. Gordon has owned and directed a publishing company, Communication Unlimited, since 1981. It originally specialized in (and continues to offer) books, reports, and cassettes about writing, empire-building, and niche publishing. In 1995, his company merged with Marsha Freeman's Team Systems and created Dental Communication Unlimited and Medical Communication Unlimited, to begin a series of standard operating procedures manuals (and other, related office operations products) for health care professionals. In 2007, Gordon sold Dental Communication Unlimited to Marsha. (See www.sops.com.) For the past five years its education imprint has published key education books for superintendents, principals, and K-12 teachers, including What Every Superintendent and Principal Needs to Know, Teachers Change Lives 24/7, The Perfect School, and Finding Middle Ground in K-12 Education: Balancing Best Practices and the Law. (See www.superintendents-and-principals.com.)
Burgett earned four academic degrees: B.A., University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (Latin American Studies), M.A., University of Wisconsin, Madison (Luso-Brazilian Studies), M.F.T., Thunderbird Graduate School (Foreign Trade), and an M.A., Northern Illinois University (History). He was twice a university dean, taught Portuguese and history, created a city recreation program in Illinois, directed CARE (and Peace Corps) programs in Colombia and Ecuador (including the Land Directorship of the HOPE ship medical/dental program in Guayaquil), twice studied in Brazil, played professional baseball, and led a gold hunt up the Paushi Yaco (Upper Amazon) River in Ecuador.
He survived to write newsletters, articles, and books. See the newsletter at www.gordonburgett.com/nl.htm. He also has a blog at www.blog.gordonburgett.com.

Gordon Burgett lays it out succinctly and with
healthy realism. This is a great example of a niche
marketed book. He walks the talk.
What this book describes, above all, is how to
shift your thinking and see the possibilities to
make more money from writing and speaking. A lot
of people who want to be self-employed as writers
or consultants fail because they don't market
themselves effectively.
This book will either excite you if you are open-minded
about selling your stuff based on the presence
of a market for what you know, or it will repulse
you with it's mathematics and analysis.
At the end of the day the artist-writer would prefer
not to know there is no market for his book. Niche
Marketing is for the pragmatist - the man or woman
who needs to make money from writing and speaking
and is willing to adjust to the demands of the
marketplace. This book shows you how.

O.K. I've attended several seminars of Burgett's, so you could consider me a fan. I own several of his books--most of them baught from the back of the room--and this is my favorite one. His writing style, like his speaking style is to the point and personable. This book is a little rough around the edges--some typos, less flowing writing style--but the information (and I hope that is why you are considering this book) is sound, useful and inspiring. He followed this plan and it has worked very well for him.

I found this book less than inspiring. It just didn't deliver with much useful advice.
