It has the Snow Miser and Heat Miser Songs, need I say more?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Nick At Nite: A Classic Cartoon Christmas, Too (Audio CD)
The ONLY reason I purchased this CD was because it contained the Snow Miser and the Heat Miser Songs from "The Year Without a Santa Claus". These 2 tracks are GREAT! But, unfortunately there are about 3 tracks that seem VERY much out of place. The Ren and Stimpy Track, the Madaline Track, and the Begginers Bible Track are FAR from timeless. They are very Poor when compared to the other Rankin/Bass Songs on this MARVELOUS CD. The track from Mr. Magoo was a hidden treat for me, I grew up watching this special each year but had forgotten the songs. I have the "Rudolph, Frosty, and Friends" CD too and so the rest of the tracks on this CD are reprised over again. It would have been great if they had used more tracks from "The Year Without a Santa Claus", or "Mr. Magoo..", or another Rankin/Bass film. Maybe even something from "The Christmas that almost wasn't". If you like the Snow Miser and the Heat Miser Songs then this CD is WORTH getting! But I suggest that you get "Rudolph, Frosty, and Friends" as well

This CD Is A Lot Of Christmas Fun!,
This review is from: Nick At Nite: A Classic Cartoon Christmas, Too (Audio CD)
This CD is cute and fun, has a lot of Classics from Christmas specials and movies! My favorites are the songs from The Year Without A Santa Claus, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, and Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. I rate it a 5 for how fun and lively this CD is, it is just filled with silly Christmas fun that is great for both children and adults!

I got this CD because it features the cult favorites "Heat Miser" and "Snow Miser" from The Year Without a Santa Claus. There are some other good songs from the classic Christmas cartoons Santa Claus Is Comin to Town, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. But I hardly think that Ren & Stimpy, Madeline and The Beginner's Bible can be considered "classic Christmas cartoons" (although I like Ren & Stimpy). And with a 22 minutes running time, this CD is way too short. But it's still worth getting just for "Heat Miser" and "Snow Miser".

The main reason to buy this CD is because you want the Heat Miser and Snow Miser songs from "The Year Without a Santa Claus." Those songs are great and the makers behind this show are missing out by not including these songs (and the other great songs from the show like "Blue Christmas" and "It's Gonna Snow Right Here in Dixie") on any of their other Christmas CD's. I only gave it 4 stars because the other songs are either widely available on other Rudolph/Santa Claus is Coming to Town compilations, or the songs just aren't that good.

The first album was spectacular. The Miser songs, First Toy Maker, and Silver and gold were Classics but some of the others I haven't heard in my lifetime and I have been watching since Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer came out in when I was one. Gave it a generous 3 since I enjoyed half of the album.

Okay, no one would claim this album as a whole is great music ... but an opportunity to get all the words right to Heat Miser and Snow Miser 20 years after you last watched the cartoon is worth a great deal in family peace but be prepared to pick up copies for nieces, nephews, children, friends ...And - as an added bonus - you get to introduce your mother to 'I Wish You a Merry Chestwig' - an appopriate new classic for a family raised on word play. Okay - the value of the CD is for memories and fun but it does that well. Go ahead and give yourself some play in the hectic holiday season.

The CD should have included "All Alone In the World" from Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol
rather than "Lord's Bright Blessing".

Leftovers,

Only a couple of worthwhile tracks on this. The last four or five tracks are truly awful. The producers should have dug a bit deeper into the Rankin/Bass classics and delivered a few B-tracks, rather than the positively hideous "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" that ends this disk.
