Good pop, not rap,
This review is from: Nick Cannon (Audio CD)
Not so bad actually, many songs are fun and radio friendly, not that he's a super rapper but his lyrics are sometimes funny. Ok, Nick has got alot of help cause he's on tv + that many "good" artists appear on his album. Rap fans wouldn't buy this perhaps but it's a decent pop album. "Feeling freaky" with B2k "Gigolo" with R. Kelly " Whenever you need me with Mary " I used to be in love" with Joe also Nivea and Biz Markie appaearing on 2 songs. Skip the first one with the super annoying Ying Yang twins and Fatman Scoop. But it's a good album, both slow and faster tracks, good guest artists that get's your attention, nice pop music. If People can buy pop-rap like Nelly why not Nick Cannon too?

Crap,

This is one of the worst albums I've ever heard in my entire life. I love the fact that he has to prove his "street cred" even though his completely manicured image up to this point has been wholesome. Yeah, Nickelodeon, the starting point of all things "gangsta." The only thing more ridiculous would be if Paris Hilton had an album coming out....oh wait she does. Nice company Nick.

People, it is not that bad,

Nick Cannon's first rap debut is decent. He doesn't curse because he realizes he has young fans who watched him on Nickelodeon, which I find very responsible as an artist. This album has a few hits. The album starts off very strong with "Get Crunk Shorty" feat. The Ying Yang Twins. Just Blaze delivers a THUNDEROUS club beat and Nick drops decent lines, although it sounds like he is trying to make himself into something he clearly is not. This track is ok, the Ying Yang twins get annoying after a while, but the beat is enough for me to consider this song one of the best on the album. Another hit in "Gigolo" feat R Kelly. R Kelly produces the song and sings the smooth chorus. Again, it sounds like Nick is trying to make his self out to be something he is not. Nick misses on this album in a few places. "Your Pops don't like me" is a terrible effort. The song sounds way to childish and I won't be surprised when it finds it's way to heavy rotation on Radio Disney. Overall, the album is decent and not even as remotely close to as bad as other reviewers are making it out to be. Buy it if you are a fan of the single "Gigolo" because the rest of the album holds Nicks fantasticly simplistic wordplay and nice production. 3.5 stars.

When I saw Nick Cannon's video for his first single...I really thought it was a joke..then he goes on BET promoting his new album and talking about how great it is! NO WAY...This guy cannot rap and has no charisma whatsoever...he literally has to do the stuidest things in order to get some tv attention...just awful...the lyrics are pretty bad and so is the production

Ok. First off, let me be the one to say Nick's first cd/LP was crap. "Your pops don't like me" was just a collection of loose rhymes and 2nd hand beats. This one though, its much better. Its like a different person all together. I choose not to give him a 5 though, because this cd is better, but not as good as it should be. My favorite picks on there would be Gigolo and of course "whenever you need me" featuring Mary J. Blige. It definately gets a thumbs up.

First of all...Nick Cannon is NOT dissin B2K on Gigolo...He cleared that up in an interview.I think this album was ok. I wouldn't call it horrible. It seems to me like this is stuff that he had been working on for a while, and put on the album just to get it released. I am looking forward to a second album, with hopes that it is worth 5 stars.

I just heard "Whenever you need me", that beat was done by some biter, i can't believe that's even legal cause thats the same exact beat that was on Camp Lo's first CD "Uptown Saturday Night" produced by Ski. For those of you who liked this CD, i don't expect you to care. For those of you who didn't like this CD check "Uptown Saturday Night" and let Camp Lo show you that that beat can be rapped to. I apologize for not having heard this entire CD before reviewing it but im convinced i didn't miss much.
